This article examines the select process and the problems of key competencies in 2015 National Curriculum of History. Key competencies in history was selected in such a way to extract key competencies related to the history of general key competencies given in the General Curriculum and modify them to suit the characteristics of history. The meaning of competencies is stated abstractly while lacking concreteness and defined incompletely in some cases. Some of the key competencies are overlap. In order to improve the key competencies in history, the reflection of curriculum development approach made ​​without accumulation of adequate research about subject-specific competencies, the conversion to subject-based competency model and the effort to redefine pan-subject general competencies in the perspective of history is required.

이 논문은 2015 개정 역사 교육과정에 제시된 역사과 핵심역량의 선정 과정과 선정된 핵심역량의 문제점을 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 역사과 핵심역량의 개선을 위해 고려해야할 점을 제안하고 있다. 역사과 핵심역량은 총론에서 제시한 범교과적 일반역량 중 사회과⋅역사와 관련된 역량을 추출하고 이를 역사과의 특성에 맞추어 수정⋅보완하는 방식으로 선정되었다. 역사과 핵심역량은 전반적으로 구체성을 결여한 채 추상적으로 진술되어 있으며, 교과 목표와의 차별성이 드러나지 않는다. 또한 일부 역량은 의미가 불완전하게 규정되어 있으며, 의미가 서로 중첩되는 역량도 존재한다. 역사과 핵심역량을 개선하기 위해 차후 교육과정 개정 시 교과역량에 대한 충분한 연구 성과의 축적없이 이루어진 교육과정 개발 방식에 대한 반성, 핵심역량을 교육과정에 구현하는 방식에서의 변화와 개선이 필요하며, 범교과적 일반역량을 역사과의 관점과 시각에서 재정의하고자 하는 노력이 보다 확대되어야 한다
