The purpose of this study was to develop a classification scheme of instruction and to analysis of types of practical work instruction in practical arts using classification scheme. For the purpose of this study. First, the literatures on the types of practical work instruction in practical arts were analyzed, utilizing some of these previous theoretical results. the classification scheme of practical work instruction were created. The classification scheme of practical work instruction was consist of two descriptors. The one is the procedure to be followed for any practical work instruction, the other is a way of approach. The practical work instruction was divided into four dimensions. Second, the characteristics in practical work instruction were analyzed. Data came from 3 teachers. An interpretative strategy was employed to analyze the video-recording of teachers' own practical arts classroom and transcriptions. This study examined different modes of practical work instruction that were realized in practical arts classroom.

이 연구는 실과 실습 수업의 특징을 분류하고 설명하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 연구내용은 첫째, 초등학교 실과 실습 수업의 특징을 사레별로 분석하고 그에 터해 분류 기준을 개발하는 것이고. 둘째, 초등학교 실과 실습 수업의 분류틀 개발하는 것이었다. 연구 내용을 해결하기 위해 세 교사의 실습 수업 사례를 비디오 녹화를 통해 수집하였고, 그것을 질적 연구 방법에 의해 분석하였다. 사례 분석 결과 개방성과 접근 방식의 두가지 분류 기준을 개발하였고, 그 두 기준을 가로, 세로 축으로 하여 네 영역의 분류틀을 개발하였다. 세 교사의 수업을 분석한 결과 최교사는 교사 주도적이고 폐쇄적인 교과서 중심의 실습 수업을 하고 있었으며, 전형적인 분류 영역 Ⅱ수준의 모방적 수업을 하고 있었다. 둘째, 박교사는 전반적인 흐름은 교사주도적인 폐쇄적 수업이었으나, 과정에서 소극적인 개방성을 학생들에게 부여하고 있었다. 결국 분류 영역 Ⅰ, Ⅱ가 혼합된 수업을 하고 있었다. 세 번째 김교사는 교과서를 재구성하여 수업을 설계한 교사로 재해석적 수준에서 학생들에게 주도권을 많이 부여하고 개방적인 분위기에서 실습에 임할 수 있도록 적극적으로 도와주고 있었다. 분류 영역 Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ이 혼합되어 있는 수업이었다.
