The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of multicultural awareness in the effect of pre-secondary teachers’ multicultural experience on multicultural efficacy. As for the research method, a survey was conducted as part of a quantitative study, and the subjects of the survey were 311 pre-secondary teachers enrolled in the teacher training course of A University located in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Data analysis methods employed are frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The research conclusions as follows. First, there was significantly high positive correlation found between the components of pre-secondary teachers’ multicultural experience, of multicultural awareness, and of multicultural efficacy. Second, in the influence of pre-secondary teachers’ multicultural experience on multicultural efficacy, the partial mediating effects of multicultural awareness overall, acceptance, respect, and openness were found to be statistically significant and multicultural experience solely had significant effects on multicultural efficacy. Therefore, in the future teaching courses of the universities of education and general universities, it is necessary to provide various direct and indirect experiences in multiculturalism for pre-secondary teachers to elevate their sense of efficacy and provide systematic educational opportunities so that their multicultural awareness can change.

이 연구의 목적은 예비중등교사의 다문화 경험이 다문화 효능감에 미친 영향 관계에 서 다문화 인식의 매개효과를 알아보는 것이다. 연구방법은 양적 연구방법으로 설문조 사를 실시하였으며, 조사대상은 경상북도 A시 소재 A대학교 교원양성과정에 재학중인 예비중등교사 311명이었다. 자료 분석 방법은 빈도분석, t 검정 및 일원분산분석, 신뢰 도 분석, 상관관계분석, 중다회귀분석이다. 이러한 과정을 통해 얻어진 연구결론은 다 음과 같다. 첫째, 예비중등교사의 다문화 경험의 구성요인과 다문화 인식의 구성요인 및 다문화 효능감의 구성요인 간에는 모두 유의한 높은 정적 상관관계이었다. 둘째, 예비중등교 사의 다문화 경험이 다문화 효능감에 미친 영향에서 다문화 인식 전체, 수용성, 존중성, 개방성의 부분매개효과는 통계적으로 유의하였으며, 다문화 경험 단독으로 다문화 효 능감에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 다문화 경험과 다문화 인식의 구성요인이 함께 다문화 효능감에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 따라서 향후 사범대학 및 일반대학 교직과정에서는 예비중등교사들이 다문화 효능감을 높이기 위해 다문화에 대한 다양한 직·간접 경험 제공 및 다문화 인식의 변화 등이 이루어지도록 체계적인 교육적 기회 제공이 요구된다.
