Kohlberg argued for a hypothesis dilemma discussion to stimulate the development of students' moral reasoning. However, after participating in moral education, he argued for the Justice Community Approach that emphasized the construction of a moral atmosphere in schools and the teaching virtues. The Justice Community Approach expanded the meaning of morality beyond individual reasoning to agreements between individuals. Accordingly, it was intended to cultivate the ability of agreement by getting into place a system of democratic governance (three main institutions) so that students can directly participate in school work and solve school problems on their own. Dialogue involving the process of agreement led individual righteousness into justice. In the process of dialogue, communal consciousness was strengthened. This study is meaningful in that it revealed the meaning and role of dialogue that leads the concept of justice and community to practice.

콜버그는 학생들의 도덕 사고 구조의 발달을 자극하기 위해 가설 딜 레마 토론방법을 주장하였다. 그러나 도덕교육의 실천 활동에 직접 참 여한 이후에는 학교 내 도덕적 분위기 조성과 덕목의 가르침을 강조하 는 정의 공동체 접근을 주장하였다. 정의 공동체 접근은 도덕성의 의 미를 개인의 판단을 넘어 개인 간 합의로 확장하였다. 이에 합의라는 새로운 도덕성 함양을 위해 민주적 운영 제도를 마련하고 학교 일에 직접 참여하며 학교의 문제를 학생 스스로 해결하도록 하였다. 이 때 합의의 과정에 수반되는 대화는 각자의 옳음을 정의로 이끌어 주었고 구성원 간 관계성을 강화해주었다. 본 연구는 정의와 공동체의 개념을 실천의 장으로 이끄는 대화의 의미와 역할을 밝혔다.
