The purposes of this study is to examine adult learners' outcomes on the university lifelong education based on students background and university characteristics, and to explore the factors affecting the satisfaction, thereby deriving implications for improving the effectiveness of university lifelong education. To that end, we surveyed adult learners participating in the ‘Lifelong education at universities for the Future of Education(LiFE)’ project, and the data of 2,628 students who responded to all questionnaire were used for analysis. Utilizing MANOVA and multiple regression analysis, this study reveal the following results: First, according to the student characteristics, female learners showed higher satisfaction in all areas than male learners, but the remaining individual characteristics did not bring statistically significant differences in satisfaction. The university characteristics showed differences in satisfaction depending on types of lifelong education projects, region of university, and type of admission requirement. Second, the factors affecting adult leaners’ lifelong educational satisfaction, in terms of the individual characteristics, are gender, grade, academic major and age, which showed statistically significant influence. In general, the lower the grade, and the higher the age, the higher the overall satisfaction level of lifelong education, and the higher the satisfaction level of natural science and art and physical education compared to the humanities and social sciences. In the case of university characteristics, adult learners at universities in the non-Seoul metropolitan area generally perceive high satisfaction in lifelong education, although there are differences in sub-areas. Based on the results of this study, the practical and policy recommendations were suggested.

본 연구는 성인학습자가 인식한 대학의 평생교육체제 전환 사업 성과 인식이 개인배경 및 대학특성에 따라 어떠한 차이가 있는지 비교하고 이에 대한 영향요인을 알아봄으로써, 대학 의 평생교육체제 전환 성과를 제고할 수 있는 시사점을 도출하는 데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 ‘대학의 평생교육체제 지원사업’에 참여 중인 대학의 성인학습자를 대상으로 교육만족도 조사를 실시하였고, 2,628명의 데이터를 분석에 활용하였다. 연구방법으로는 다변량분산분석 과 중다회귀분석을 적용하였다. 분석결과는 첫째, 성인학습자의 평생교육만족도 차이를 가져 오는 개인 특성에 따르면, 여학생이 남학생 보다 모든 영역에서 높은 만족도를 나타내었으 나, 나머지 개인 특성은 만족도에 유의미한 차이를 가져오지 않았다. 다만, 개체 간 효과검증 에서 세부적 차이를 나타내었다. 대학특성으로는 평생교육사업유형, 대학권역, 입학제도유형 에 따른 만족도 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 성인학습자의 평생교육만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 으로, 개인특성에서는 성, 학년, 학과계열, 연령 변수가 통계적으로 유의한 영향력을 나타냈 다. 즉 여학생에 비해 남학생이, 1학년 다른 학년에 비해, 성인학습자의 연령이 높을수록, 인 문사회계열에 비해 자연과학, 예체능계열이 만족도 전반을 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 대학특성의 경우 수도권 이외 지역 대학의 성인학습자들이 영역마다 차이는 있지만 대체로 평생교육만족도를 높게 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 평생교육체제 전환 성과를 제고할 수 있는 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.
