The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary schoolers’ changes in personal and social responsibility through modified physical education program. The program was consisted of 22 modified soccer games using TPSR model. The participants were a whole class of nine 4th graders in Riverside Elementary School. The constant comparative method (Glaser & Strauss, 1967; Strauss & Corbin, 1998) was used to analyze the collected data. To increase the trustworthiness of data, peer debriefing, member checks, and triangulation were used. The results were as follows. The main phenomenon was 'displaying changes in responsibility’, and the causal condition was 'knowing my responsibility level'. Intervention condition was 'educational and personal background' and contextual condition was 'culture of rural and remote school' and action/interaction strategy was 'efforts of improving responsibility level.’ The consequences was ‘improvement in personal and social responsibility.’ Discussions and implications about the results were made.

이 연구의 목적은 수정된 체육 프로그램에 참여한 초등학생의 책임감 변화를 조사하는 것이었다. 수정된 체육 프로 그램은 공을 발로 다루는 드리블, 패스, 슈팅, 펀트, 축구게임 전략을 지도하는데 필요한 학습 단서를 선정하여 개 인적·사회적 책임감 모형(TPSR)을 적용한 22차시의 체육수업으로 구성하였다. 수정된 체육 프로그램에 소규모 학 교 4학년 학급 전체인 9명의 학생이 참여하였다. 지속적 비교법(Glaser & Strauss, 1967; Strauss & Corbin, 1998)을 사용하여 자료 분석을 하였으며 자료의 진실성을 확보하기 위해 동료 참고인 선정, 참여자 확인 및 삼각검 증이 이루어졌다. 이러한 과정을 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 중심 현상으로 ‘달라진 모습 보이기’, 맥락 적 조건으로 ‘벽지 학교 체육수업 문화’, 인과적 조건으로 ‘나의 책임감 수준 알기’, 중재적 조건으로 ‘이전 교육과 개인적 배경’, 작용/상호작용 전략으로 ‘책임감 수준 개선 노력’, 그리고 이러한 결과로 “책임감 수준의 향상”이라는 범주를 도출할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 교사와 학생간의 건강한 연결과 교사들의 집단적인 헌신으로 준비된 다양한 수업 설정이 결정적인 역할을 하였으며 이를 위해 교사들에게 자유를 부여하는 것과 장기간에 걸친 TPSR 수업 실행을 위한 모형 간 통합에 대해 연구할 교사 공동체를 조직할 것을 제안하였다.
