This study sought to explore the direction of the future school’s concept and space design based on the question of where the future school should be and how the spaces should be designed in accordance with future changes in society and education. For this, the concept of the future school and the principles of designing future school spaces through previous domestic and foreign studies were explored, followed by specific spatial compositions of the future school. A needs’ analysis for this was also conducted, with the intention being to analyze the level of needs by comparing the degrees between their importance and the hold that they have on teachers, students and parents when they think about the direction of the future school’s concept and space design, along with specific spatial compositions. The results indicated that diversity and creativity should be the top priorities for the future education’s goal and that the curriculum should emphasize education with the use of computers and smart devices. In addition, the principles of the future school space composition should involve environmental and safety concerns first, and students should have places to rest in the space compositions. Suggestions based upon the results are as follows. First, it is necessary to revise laws pertaining to school facilities and facilities standards for the future school’s design. Second, follow-up studies on specific space explorations in the future school should be continued.

본 연구는 미래사회와 미래교육의 변화에 따라 향후 미래학교가 어떠한 곳이어야 하는지, 그 공 간은 어떻게 설계되어야 하는지에 대한 문제의식을 바탕으로 미래학교의 개념과 미래학교 공간 설계의 방향을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 탐색하기 위해 우선 국내외 선행연구를 바탕으로 미래학 교의 개념과 미래학교 공간 설계의 원리, 이를 바탕으로 미래학교의 구체적인 공간 구성을 탐색하 였다. 그리고 이에 대한 요구도 분석을 실시하였다. 요구도 분석은 미래학교의 개념과 미래학교 공간 설계의 방향, 구체적인 공간 구성에 대해 교사와 학생, 학부모가 중요하다고 생각하는 정도와 보유하고 있다고 생각하는 정도를 비교함으로써 요구도의 수준을 분석하고자 하였다. 그 결과 미래학교의 교육목표로 다양성과 창의성을 가장 우선시해야 하며, 교육과정에서는 컴퓨 터 및 스마트기기 활용교육을 강조해야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 미래학교 공간 구성의 원리로 는 친환경성과 안전성을 우선시해야 하며 공간 구성에서는 학생의 휴식 공간 확보를 우선시해야 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과에 터해 제언을 하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정책적인 측면에 서 미래학교 설계를 위한 학교시설․설비기준령의 개정이 필요하다. 둘째, 미래학교의 구체적인 공간 탐색에 대한 후속연구가 지속적으로 진행되어야 한다.
