This study aims to present the possibility of character education by life cycle on the basis of Jung’s psychology. According to Jung, children and adolescents need to form a healthy persona, which can mediate between ego and the outside world. However, persona as the social self is not a true self. The process of pursuing true self through unconsciousness is called the process of individuation. Life-cycle character education based on Jung’s psychology can be understood as a process of individuation. The first step is related with facing and accepting shadow as alter ego. Next, the second step, the differentiation and integration of anima․animus which mediates between ego and inner world. This is the most important task of middle age. Finally, the task of recognizing self as the center of consciousness and unconsciousness, which is the basis for exploring the ultimate purpose of life and the source of fundamental conscience and calling.

본 연구는 융 심리학에 근거하여 생애주기별 인성교육의 과제를 제 시하는 것을 목표로 한다. 융에 따르면 아동․청소년기에는 자아와 외 부세계 사이의 접촉을 중재하는 페르조나를 건강하게 형성할 필요가 있다. 그러나 사회적 자아인 페르조나가 진정한 자아는 아니다. 무의식 의 의식화를 통해 진정한 자아를 추구하는 과정을 개성화 과정이라 한 다. 융 심리학에 근거한 생애주기별 인성교육은 개성화 과정으로 이해 될 수 있는데, 먼저 ‘또 다른 나’인 그림자를 직면․수용하고, 자아와 내면세계를 중재하는 아니마․아니무스의 분화와 통합 단계를 거친다. 아니마․아니무스의 분화와 통합은 중년기의 가장 중요한 과제이다. 끝으로 의식과 무의식의 중심인 자기를 인식해야 하는 과제가 주어져 있는데, 자기는 근원적인 양심과 소명의 출처이다.
