In busy modern society, we look for the peace of mind through cultural life. Thus, various cultural contents appear in which we can share the reminiscence of the past. The performance of the animation, “Beauty and the Beast” recently produced by Walt Disney is a successful case of emotional culture. Values of cultural contents differ depending on countries, so there would be a difference between the film interpreted by Eskwad, a production in France, the home of the original fairy tale and that by Walt Disney, that in the U.S. with active film industry. This study analyzed differences in synopsis, characters and styling types between the two works. First, in an analysis of the synopsis and characters expressed in the original fairy tale, the French film and the American film, in the French film, the characters in the original fairy tale and new characters appeared while in the American film, those in the original fairy tale were removed, and new characters appeared. Second, in an analysis of makeup, hair and fashion style between the two films, the French film expressed Beast and Perdiccas as mannish images and Belle as a sexy image while the fashion was produced as that of the classical age while the American film expressed Beast, Gaston and Belle as elegant images, and the fashion was produced as a mix of that of the classical and modern era. Third, as for differences in the analyzed synopsis, characters, makeup, hair and fashion style, the French film composed the synopsis stereoscopically and produced images by differentiating male and female characters while the American film composed the synopsis mainly with the typical characters and generally produced elegant feelings. The French film would be faithful to the original synopsis and expressed classical style since Western clothes were developed in Europe while the American film got the public reaction by adding the success factor, musical and an open modern thought because the film industry is active there.

바쁜 현대사회 속에서 우리는 문화생활을 통해 마음의 평화를 찾게 된다. 이에 과거의 향수를 공유 할 수 있는 다양한 문화 컨텐츠가 생겨나고 있다. 최근 월트디즈니에서 제작 한 ‘미녀와 야수’ 실사 영화의 흥행이 감성문화의 성공적 사례로 볼 수 있다. 문화 콘텐츠 는 나라마다 가치관의 차이가 있으므로 ‘미녀와 야수’ 원작동화의 본고장 프랑스 제작사 인 Eskwad에서 해석한 영화와 영화산업이 활발한 미국 제작사인 월트디즈니에서 해석한 영화의 차이가 있을 것으로 보고 두개의 작품의 줄거리, 캐릭터 분석 및 스타일링 유형의 차이를 분석해 보았다. 첫째, ‘미녀와 야수’의 원작동화, 프랑스영화, 미국영화에서 표현 한 줄거리, 캐릭터분석을 파악한 결과 프랑스영화는 원작동화에 등장하는 인물들과 새로 운 인물을 등장시켰다. 미국영화는 원작동화에 등장하는 인물을 삭제하고 새로운 인물을 등장시켰다. 둘째, 프랑스영화와 미국영화 간의 메이크업, 헤어, 패션 스타일을 분석한 결과 프랑스영화에서는 야수와 페르뒤카스 캐릭터를 매니쉬한 이미지로, 벨 캐릭터를 섹시한 이미지로 표현하였고 패션은 고전시대 그대로 연출하였다. 미국영화에서는 야수, 개스톤, 벨 캐릭터를 우아한 이미지로 표현하였고 패션은 고전과 현대시대를 접목시켜 연출하였다. 셋째, 분석한 줄거리 및 캐릭터 분석과 메이크업, 헤어, 패션 스타일의 차이 점을 비교한 결과 프랑스영화는 줄거리를 입체적으로 구성하였고 남녀 캐릭터를 구분지 어 이미지를 연출하였다. 미국영화는 줄거리를 대표 캐릭터 위주로 구성하였고 대체적으 로 우아한 느낌을 연출하였다. 프랑스영화는 원작의 본고장답게 줄거리에 충실하려 하였 고 서양 의복같은 경우 유럽에서 발달하였기 때문에 고전유형을 표현한 것으로 보인다. 미국영화는 영화산업이 활발하기 때문에 흥행요소인 뮤지컬과 개방적인 현대사상을 추 가해 대중의 반응을 얻은 것으로 사료된다.
