The purpose of this study is to explore the implications of Da-san’s conservation theory for character education. I looked at the elements of character education in Da-san’s theory and tried to explore ways to practice character education. In the course of the research, I looked at the way of understanding human beings in Da-san’s theory of discipline and discussed it as a direction of character education. Four kinds of foster ways to control the mind and the two kinds of foster ways to keep the mind were examined and compared with those of character education. And I discussed about the practice of character education based on the core concepts ‘self-reflection’, ‘will to practice’, and ‘relational realization’ in Da-san’s theory. Finally, 8 kinds of character education practices applying Da-san’s method of training were suggested. As a result of the study, it is necessary to pay attention to self-reflection as core competence of character education. It is important to cultivate will to practice in terms of methods for realizing character education. It is also necessary to realize the enhancement of humanity core competency and the virtues of value in social relations.

이 연구의 목적은 다산의 수양론이 현대 인성교육에 주는 의미를 고찰하는 데 있다. 다산의 수양론에 담긴 인성교육 요소를 살펴보고, 인성교육 실천을 위한 방법을 탐색해보고자 하였다. 연구과정은 다산의 수양론에 나타난 인간 이해 방식을 살펴보고, 인성교육의 실천 방법으로써 논의해보았다. 다산의 수양법을 마음을 다스리는 수양법 4가지, 마음을 간직하는 수양법 2가지로 구분하여 인성교육 요소와 비교하며 살펴보았다. 그리고 다산의 수양론에 담긴 핵심개념 ‘자기성찰’, ‘실천의지’, ‘관계적 실현’을 중심으로 인성교육 실천 방안에 대해 논의하였다. 끝으로 다산의 수양법을 적용한 인성교육 실천 방안을 8가지로 제시하였다. 연구결과, 인성교육의 핵심역량으로써 자기성찰에 주목할 필요가 있다. 인성교육 실현을 위한 방법적 측면에서 실천의지를 키우는 것이 중요하다. 또한 인성 핵심역량의 신장 및 가치덕목의 함양은 사회적 관계 속에서 실현할 필요가 있다.
