The purpose of this study was to investigate the ways in which career development programs for North Korean defector students could be formed. The subjects of the survey were 227 North Korean Defector Students. The data were analyzed for frequency analysis, χ2-test, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson´s Correlation. The results are summarized as follows: 1) The North Korean defector Students hope to go to university and prefer to work after college graduation. 2) While they are worried about employment, career decisions are difficult to be made, and most of the assistance for their career planning is provided by the teachers. 3) Job and Career subject matter is taught about once a week on average and job experience is an important part of the lessons. 4) North Korean defector students hope to receive more job and career training as well as counseling. 5) Statistically significant correlation is found between career decision and career-related anxiety of North Korean defector students, between the frequency of counseling with the teacher and the helpfulness of the career guidance, and between the demand for career counseling and for career training lessons. Proposals for further support for North Korean defector students include restructuring of career training curriculum, development of career training and employment support programs, enhanced career counseling, and expansion of career information network for those students.

본 연구의 목적은 탈북학생의 진로교육에 관한 인식 및 요구에 대한 조사를 통해 탈북학생의 진로교육을 위한 방향수립 및 방안탐색 자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 본 연구를 위해 중학교 8개교, 고등학교 1개교와 대안학교 3개교에 재학 중인 탈북학생 227명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 또한 수집된 자료는 빈도분석, 교차검증, t검증, 변량분석, Pearson의 적률 상관 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 1) 탈북학생은 대학진학을 희망하고 있으며, 대학교를 졸업 한 후 취업하기를 선호하였다. 2) 진로에 대한 고민은 하지만 진로결정에 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 진로에 대한 도움은 선생님한테 주로 받고 있었다. 3) 교육과정상 “직업·진로” 수업을 주당 한번, 직업체험을 통해 학습한 것으로 나타났다. 4) 탈북학생들은 직업과 진로수업이 더 많아지기를 바라고 있으며, 직업과 진로상담도 많이 받고 싶어 했다. 5) 상관관계 분석결과 탈북학생들의 진로고민과 진로결정간의 관계, 직업진로에 대한 선생님과의 상담정도와 도움정도 간의 관계, 직업진로 상담의 요구와 직업진로수업에 대한 요구간의 관계는 높게 나타났다. 탈북학생을 위한 진로교육 개선을 위한 제언으로는 탈북학생의 요구에 적합하도록 진로교육 및 진로탐색과 관련하여 탈북학생을 대상으로 하는 진로교육과정의 재구조화, 탈북학생을 대상으로 하는 보다 비판적이고 현실적인 교육의 시행 탈북학생 대상의 진로교육 및 취업지원 프로그램의 개발과 진로상담활동의 강화, 탈북학생을 대상으로 하는 진로정보에 대한 네트워크 구축 및 홍보 등을 들 수 있다.
