‘Creative Work’ proposed in this study is not a new concept. As ‘Creative Work’ is the catch phrase of Pratical Arts Education, we want to ensure that the ideas and philosophies related to ‘Creative Work’ are accurately defined and understood. The philosophy of ‘Creative Work’ is defined by three characteristics for the purposes of this study. First, ‘Creative Work’ is not working with the sole purpose of earning money. The purpose of ‘Creative Work’ is through the experience of self-realization, fostering independence, and resilience. We refer to this aspect of ‘creative Work’ as character education. The second purpose of ‘Creative Work’ is to foster creativity and practicality through problem solving. This aspect of ‘creative Work’ is referred to as creativity education. The third purpose ‘Creative Work’ is to foster critical thinking skills to fuse together both knowledge and capabilities. This aspect can be defined as convergence education. ‘Creative Work’ is similar to Work in physical and functional properties. By the addition of the word 'creative’, the emphasis changes to focus on the development of higher thinking skills, social skills, and personality. Therefore, ‘Creative Work’ is future-oriented. ‘Creative Work’ has the biggest difference with the existing Work performed in its way with the existing Work emphasized through a simple process. On the other hand, ‘Creative Work’ emphasizes strategic processes to foster competencies required for future society. The strategic processes that ‘Creative Work’ emphasizes are problem solving, projects, and systems. The emphasis on these processes can identify the uniqueness of ‘Creative Work’

이 연구에서 제안한 ‘창의 노작’은 새로운 개념이 아니다. 노작이 실과 교육의 핵심적 내용으로 자리 잡는데 있어 노작의 개념을 확인함과 동시에 노작과 관련하여 그동안 언급되지 않았던 미래 지향적인 사상이나 철학, 이론을 고찰함으로서 실과 교육에서 노작 활동에 대한 새로운 캐치프레이즈로 ‘창의 노작’을 제시하고자 한 것이다. 연구자가 제안하는 ‘창의 노작’의 철학은 크게 세 가지 성격을 가진다. 첫째, 노작을 기술주의로 왜소화 하지 않고 자기실현의 경험 속에서 자주성과 사회적 품성을 기르는 인성교육으로 이해하는 것이다. 둘째, 노작을 문제해결적사고 기반 위에 생활에서의 창조와 실천을 지향하는 창의성 교육으로 이해하는 것이다. 셋째, 노작을 융합적사고 기반 위에 지식과 기능을 융합하는 융합교육으로 이해하는 것이다. ‘창의 노작’은 기존의 노작이 가지는 신체적, 수기적 성격은 그대로 견지하면서도 노작에 ‘창의’라는 단어를 붙여 문제해결, 융합사고 같은 고등사고기능에 더해 자주성이나 사회성 같은 인격적 측면도 강조하는 미래 지향적 노작 활동이다. ‘창의 노작’은 그 수행 방법에 있어 기존의 노작 활동과 가장 두드러진 차이점을 보인다. 기존의 노작 활동이 단순히 일련의 과정, 즉 절차만을 강조했다면 창의 노작은 그 과정, 절차에 문제해결, 프로젝트, 시스템이라는 전략적 체계성을 입혀 미래 지향적 역량 개발과 직결되는 과정으로 새롭게 접근하는 것이다. 이러한 과정적 접근의 강조를 통해 ‘창의 노작’은 실과 교육에서 기존의 노작과 다른 새로운 독창성과 존재성을 확인할 수 있다.
