This study aimed to analyze the social studies instruction criticism of pre-service teachers to examine the perspective and conflict of social studies instruction and investigate its meaning. In the social studies instruction criticism of pre-service teachers, criticism on various subjects was presented according to the areas of contents of social studies instruction. The result of its categorization focusing on similar subjects showed the following ten criticism types: 1) the meaning and value of social studies instruction, 2) the method of social studies instruction, 3) the content of social studies instruction, 4) the relationship of the content and method of social studies instruction, 5) the steps of social studies instruction, 6) the role and perception of teachers, 7) the level of learners, 8) the relationship of a teacher and students, 9) the relation between social phenomenon and instruction, and 10) the practical situation of social studies instruction. The social studies instruction criticism of pre-service teachers is an important information for verifying and sharing the instruction reflection and instruction practice sense of them that are situated on the border of theory and actuality.

본 연구는 예비교사들의 사회과수업비평을 분석하여 사회과수업에 대한 기본 입장과 비판적 관점을 파악하고 그 의미를 탐색하고자 하였다. 예비교사의 사회과수업비평에는 사회과수업의 내용영역에 따라 다양한 주제의 비평이 제시되었으며, 이를 유사한 비평 주제를 중심으로 유목화한 결과, 사회과수업의 의미와 가치를 다룬 비평, 사회과수업의 방법과 관련한 비평, 사회과수업의 내용과 관련한 비평, 사회과수업의 내용과 방법의 관계를 다룬 비평, 사회과수업의 단계를 다룬 비평, 교사의 역할과 인식을 다룬 비평, 학습자의 배움과 수준을 다룬 비평, 교사와 학생의 관계를 다룬 비평, 사회 현상과 수업의 관련성을 다룬 비평, 사회과수업 실천의 상황을 다룬 비평 등 모두 10가지의 유형을 확인하였다. 예비교사의 사회과수업비평은 이론과 실제의 경계에 위치한 예비교사의 수업성찰과정과 수업에 대한 실천적 감각을 확인하고 공유할 수 있는 중요한 자료이다. 따라서 이를 연구하는 일은 수업비평의 이론적 정립에 기여함과 더불어 사회과수업의 논란을 규명하고 교사교육과 수업 실천의 방향을 제시하는 일이다.
