The concept of zero(0) and calculations involving 0 are a few of the most difficult topics that students experience in learning mathematics. Therefore, it implies that proper guidance to help students understand the desirable concept of 0 and acquire calculating process involving 0 should be provided when we teach numbers and operations. This study aims to investigate instructional situations in relation to the errors of 0 and to search for efficient ways to teach them based on the previous research. To do this, we analysed elementary mathematics textbooks and workbooks. The result showed that 0(a number) and the division of which quotient includes 0 as a middle digit lacked in current textbooks and workbooks. We devised the learning activities of the two topics for 3rd grades and 4th grades, respectively. We expect that the activities will be helpful to devise learning activities of textbook and suggest some implications for teaching the calculations involving 0.

0의 개념 및 0이 포함된 사칙계산은 학생들이 수학 학습에서 경험하는 어려운 내용 중 하나이다. 이는 0의 발생 과정 및 0을 포함하는 계산에 대한 인식 등에서 수학사적으로도 확인되는 바이다. 따라서 수학 교수‧학습 시 학생들의 0 개념에 대한 올바른 이해와 0을 포함하는 계산 절차의 숙달을 위한 적절한 지도가 이루어져야 함을 함의한다. 본 연구는 선행 연구에 기초하여 학생들이 경험할 것으로 예상되는 0처리 오류가 주의 깊게 지도되고 있는지 조사하고 바람직한 지도 방향을 모색하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 교과용 도서 분석을 통해 실제 수학 지도 시 0의 개념 및 0을 포함하는 계산이 적절하게 지도되고 있는지 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 0수, 몫의 중간에 0이 포함되는 나눗셈의 지도가 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 이에 관련 내용의 학습을 목표로 하는 활동지를 구성하고, 0처리 오류 방지를 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.
