This study was aimed to determine the current state of the gender equity education of teachers and parents in child-care facilities at national-level and their needs for a gender equity education program. This study was conducted in order to develop a gender equity consciousness education program for early childhood. Questionnaires developed by researchers were sent to and collected from 993 teachers working in 336 child-care centers across the country and 1142 parents whose children are enrolled in 32 child-care centers. Analysis of the questionnaires showed that child-care center teachers acknowledged their educational activities in their facilities as sexually equal. Parents also recognized they were parenting their children in a sexually equal way; mothers thought more in such a way than fathers. Furthermore, the teachers and parents required and were willing to participate in a program to train teachers and support parents to execute gender equity education. In addition, the results confirmed what institution, they preferred, should implement the program, how to participate in it, when to execute it, who should conduct teachings in it, how to teach, what to teach, etc. It also perceived the educational purpose and contents of the program the teachers and parents wanted. On the basis of the results, researchers suggested basic directions of the development of a gender equity education program.

본 연구의 목적은 전국 규모의 보육시설 교사와 부모를 대상으로 양성평등교육 현황 및 양성평등교육 프로그램에 대한 욕구를 알아보는 것이고, 이를 기초로 프로그램 개발의 기초방향을 설정하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전국의 어린이집 명부에서 무작위로 추출한 336개 어린이집의 보육교사 993명과 32개 어린이집에 자녀를 보내는 부모 1142명을 대상으로 양성평등교육 현황과 양성평등교육 프로그램에 대한 욕구를 설문조사를 통해 알아보았다. 연구결과, 보육교사들은 보육시설에서의 교육활동을 양성평등적으로 실시한다고 인식하고 있었다. 부모 역시 양성평등적인 부모 역할과 자녀지도를 하고 있다고 인식하였으며 아버지에 비해 어머니가 양성평등적으로 지도한다고 인식하였다. 욕구조사 결과, 보육교사와 부모들이 양성평등교육 실행을 위한 교사교육 및 부모지원 프로그램을 필요로 하고 있고, 참여할 의사가 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 선호하는 프로그램의 실시기관, 참가방식, 실시시기, 프로그램 진행 강사, 진행 방법, 자료 등을 확인 하였고, 프로그램에 중요하게 반영되어야 할 교육목표와 내용에 대한 정보를 도출하였다. 그리고 이러한 양성평등교육 현황과 욕구조사를 기초로 양성평등교육 프로그램 개발의 기초 방향을 설정하였다.
