The purpose of the study was to develop a sustainable development education program in the life science area of Practical Arts education. To achieve the purpose of the study, five elementary school teachers, who were the specialized teachers of Practical Arts, developed a model of such a program. To evaluate the program model, an evaluation panel was organized with total number of 10 elementary school teachers, who were the specialized teachers of Practical Arts. The conclusions based on the results of the study were as follows; First, as a result of comparing and analyzing the contents of the proposed program, it is highly possible to develop it within the life science area of Practical Arts education. In addition, the ideas and the plans to implement the program were presented. Second, as a result of the evaluation by the evaluation panel, the validity and the possibility of the program were very high. Third, the program developed in the study was evaluated as theoretically appropriate, practical, and very likely to achieve the objectives of the program.

이 연구는 지속가능발전교육을 실현하기 위하여 실과교과 농업생명과학영역에서 수행할 수 있는 지속가능발전교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있었다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구자는 초등학교 실과교과 연구교사 혹은 전담교사이거나 경험이 있는 초등교사 5명과 함께 지속가능발전교육 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 개발된 프로그램의 평가를 위해 실과교과 연구교사 혹은 전담교사이거나 경험이 있는 초등교사 10명으로 구성된 평가 패널을 구성하였고, 이 평가 패널이 평가를 수행하였다. 이 연구의 결과를 기반으로 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지속가능발전교육의 내용과 실과교과 농업생명과학영역의 내용을 비교 분석한 결과 실과교과 농업생명과학영역의 내용을 기반으로 한 지속가능발전교육 프로그램의 개발은 가능성이 매우 높을 뿐만 아니라 프로그램을 수행할 수 있는 아이디어와 수행 방안 역시 제공되었다. 둘째, 이 연구에서 개발된 실과교과 내 농업생명과학 영역의 지속가능발전교육 프로그램은 이 연구의 목적에 충실하게 개발되었다. 셋째, 개발된 프로그램은 ‘이론의 적합성’, ‘실천 가능성’, ‘목표 달성 가능성’이 매우 높았으며, 따라서 이 프로그램의 타당성 및 현실성은 매우 높은 것으로 평가되었다.
