With the development of hospital market environment, the focus of hospital services turn to respond to customers demand. Hospital directors should pay more attention to high professional administration and marketing strategies. Under the circumstance, doctors will treat patients as customers, which is very important for treatment. For excellent hospital administration, the key issue is to find out the element that affect the interpersonal relationship. One specific aspect of interpersonal relationships is rapport. Rapport is a very important concept in the curricula of medical schools and is one of the basic elements of patient treatment. Therefore, hospital marketing demands the establishment of a solid rapport between doctors and patients. However, rapport has received relatively little attention in the hospital marketing literature. From this point of view, it is absolutely necessary to research formation and effect of rapport. The goal of this study is to examine the specific aspect of rapport in doctor-patient relationships. This research is based on the quantitative study and the literature related to this topic.

내·외적 의료 환경의 변화 양상들은 이제 더 이상 의료 활동이 환자에게 혜택을 베푸는 시혜가 아니라, 고도의 경영기법과 전문 마케팅을 필요로 하는 하나의 산업이라는 사실을 각인시켜 준다. 따라서 의사는 환자를 고객으로 생각하여야 하며, 가장 중요한 진료 외에도 환자를 만족하게 하는 부가적인 요인들을 찾아서 고객 관리를 하여야 한다. 레포는 의사지망생이 의과대학에 입학하여 질병학을 배우게 되면서 가장 먼저 배우는 용어이다. 따라서 학문적 취지에서만 볼 때, 경영학이 고객만족에서 시작하여 고객만족으로 끝난다면, 의료는 환자와의 레포에서 시작하여 레포로 끝난다고 할 수 있다. 하지만 이런 차원에서 언급되는 레포는 어디까지나 환자와의 관계적 의미에 무게를 둔 것으로, 마케팅과 연관된 의미까지 실질적으로 함유하는 것은 아니었던 것이 사실이다. 이와 같은 문제의식 아래 본 연구는 레포를 형성하는 요인들에 대한 연구의 필요성을 충족하고, 특히 의사의 커뮤니케이션 스타일에 따라 의사-환자 간 레포 형성이 다를 것이라는 점에 착안하여 실증적 연구에 주력하고자 한다.
