This paper aims to distinguish the contextual meanings of synonymous grammar expressions. This study focuses on Korean causative expressions ‘-느라고’, ‘-는 바람에’, ‘-거든’ which are frequently used in spoken language even though they have different syntactic levels. This paper presumes that the coexistence of various causative expressions occurs since each causative expression has its own distinctive meaning. The difference of meaning is accompanied with syntactic constraints and it makes their own grammatical structures different. Therefore, I gathered the syntactic constraints and pragmatic characteristics of each causative expression as basic informations for analysing spoken discourse and furnished contextual situation factors of ‘-느라고’, ‘-는 바람에’, ‘-거든’. And finally this study offers pedagogical information for synonymous grammar expressions which can be appliable in Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language.
