The purpose of this study is to explore the children's life and their satisfaction level in their school and discuss the happy school for elementary school children. Good teachers and proper elementary school sizes are essential for making the school happy.
As a result, elementary school children used to follow the needs of adults.
Especially, children in Korea doesn't have any chance to experience their own culture or create their culture because their parents believe in a myth that academic background is most important. So a child is living just as a schoolchild-not as a child.
A child is happy with a teacher who is strict to himself and think that communication in teacher-pupil relations and thoughtful consideration is important. And children are more satisfied when the school size is smalle.
Nowadays educational reform is needed strongly, but there's few positive change actually. So perception about the elementary school children and teacher is important for the true educational reform.

본 연구는 아동의 삶과 아동의 학교생활 만족도를 살펴보고 이를 토대로 아동이 행복한 학교에 필수적인 교사와 학급․학교규모에 대해 논의하였다.
연구 결과, 아동들은 스스로 문화를 만들기도 하지만 성인들의 요구에 의해 일정부분 강제 당하는 삶을 살기도 한다. 특히 대한민국에서의 아동들은 성인들이 신봉하는 학력신화로 인해 학습문화 외의 다양한 문화를 경험하거나 창출할 기회를 많이 갖지 못한다. 그래서 고유한 아동기를 경험하지 못한 채 학동기만을 살아가고 있는 현실이다. 아동은 자신에게 엄격하고 학생과의 관계에서는 소통과 배려를 소중히 하는 능력을 가지니 교사와 함께 있을 때, 그리고 학급․학교 규모가 작을수록 높은 학교생활 만족도를 보였다.
교육개혁이 강조되는 것에 비해 실질적으로 긍정적 변화가 나타나지 않는 이 시대에, 진정
한 교육개혁을 위해서는 다른 무엇보다도 교육의 중심에 있는 아동에 대한 이해와 함께 교사의 역할과 중요성에 대한 인식이 필요하다고 생각된다.
