The Effect of Adolescent Peer Guidance on Sociality Development in After-School Activity

This study purposed to find whether or not the peer guided after-school activity would yield higher efficiency in the participating adolescent's sociality than adult guided after-school participants or self-protected ones. The data for the study were consisted of four groups. S Youth Center had selected 15 students in the third grade in the elementary school as an experimental group. Participants of two other groups were randomly selected from after-school academy supported by the National Youth Council and the last group participants were none-participant of after-school activity. Each group was consisted of 15 people randomly selected. The experimental group conducted the adolescent peer guidance for about 6 weeks starting from 2007 March 3 to 2007 April 13 at a 24 times. All group participants had pre-test and post-test on the sociality. Peer guided after-school activity leaded to positive development in the adolescent sociality compared to the adult guided group and also to self-protected group. According to the study, the adolescent participating in peer guided after-school activity were ahead of sociality in general as well as in four subdimensions of sociality which were law observance, cooperation, sociabilities and independence. Post-test results showed that adolescent peer guidance group had a significant increase in the dimensions of law observance and sociabilities compared to the pre-test.

본 연구는 S청소년문화센터 또래지도 방과후 활동프로그램에 참여하는 초등학교 3학년 15명을 실험집단으로 하고, 국가청소년위원회가 지원하는 “방과후 아카데미”를 운영하는 2곳과 방과후 활동프로그램에 참여하지 않는 비참여집단을 각각 비교집단1․2․3으로 하여 각각 15명씩을 무작위로 추출․선정하였다. 실험집단은 2007년 3월 3일에서 4월 13일까지 약 6주간 24회에 걸쳐 청소년지도를 실시하여 집단 간 사회성정도를 비교하였다. 자기보호상태 또는 다른 성인보호상태의 청소년에 비해 청소년지도의 방과후 활동프로그램에 참여한 청소년의 전반적인 사회성이 높았으며 특히 준법성, 협동성, 사교성, 자주성의 하위영역이 더 높게 나왔다.
