This study aims to analyze the success factors of the globally popular Netflix film K-pop Demon Hunters and to explore its implications for university liberal arts education. As a convergent cultural product that combines the dynamism of K-pop with elements of Korean traditional and contemporary culture alongside global sensibilities, the film generates emotional resonance and narrative immersion through the integration of music, storytelling, and visual arts. This study conducted a qualitative content analysis based on a comprehensive review of articles, critiques, and interviews published in major Korean media outlets between June 2025, when the film was released on Netflix, and mid-October 2025. The analysis identified several key success factors: the emergence of glocal K-content through the convergence of global capital and the Korean Wave; narratives of self-growth and inner reflection centered on Honmoon storytelling; relational growth and artistic collaboration fostered through fandom and affective communities in the age of artificial intelligence; and world-citizenship implications rooted in intercultural empathy and cultural sensitivity. These structural characteristics closely align with the core values of liberal arts education, which emphasize self-reflection, empathy, cultural literacy, interdisciplinary thinking, and global citizenship. This study suggests that K-pop Demon Hunters can be utilized as a pedagogical resource for liberal arts education through the mediation of popular culture.

본 연구는 글로벌한 인기를 얻은 넷플릭스 영화 ‘케이팝 데몬 헌터스(K-pop Demon Hunters)’의 성공 요인을 분석하고 이를 토대로 대학 교양교육의 시사점을 탐색하는 것 을 목적으로 한다. 이 작품은 K-pop의 역동성과 한국의 전통 및 현대 문화, 그리고 글 로벌 감수성이 결합된 융합 콘텐츠로서, 음악·서사·시각 예술의 조화를 통해 감정의 공 감과 서사의 몰입을 이끌어냈다. 본 연구는 2025년 6월 Netflix를 통해 콘텐츠가 공개 된 이후 2025년 10월 중순까지 국내 주요 언론에 보도된 기사, 평론, 인터뷰 등을 대상 으로 관련 자료를 포괄적으로 수집한 후 선별을 거쳐 질적 내용분석을 하였다. 연구 결 과, 글로벌 자본과 한류의 융합을 통한 글로컬 K-콘텐츠, 혼문 서사를 중심으로 한자아 성장과 내면적 성찰, AI 시대의 팬덤과 감정의 공동체를 통한 관계적 성장과 예술적 협업, 문화 간 공감과 감수성의 세계시민적 함의가 주요 성공 요인으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 작품의 구조는 자기 성찰과 이해, 공감, 문화 감수성, 융복합적 사고, 세계시민의 식 등을 중시하는 교양교육의 핵심 가치와도 맞닿아 있다. 본 연구는 ‘케이팝 데몬 헌터 스’가 대중문화 콘텐츠를 매개로 하여 교양교육의 자원으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
