The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of practice-oriented ecological transition education on elementary school students’ environmental sensitivity and environmentally friendly attitudes. To achieve this purpose, forty-eight fourth-grade students from O Elementary School in U Metropolitan City were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 24) and a control group (n = 24). The experimental group participated in 12 sessions of the practice-oriented ecological transition education program, while the control group received 12 sessions of theory-oriented environmental classes based on the national curriculum. Both groups completed pre-tests measuring environmental sensitivity and environmentally friendly attitudes prior to the intervention, and post-tests were administered after the 12-session program. Additionally, the experimental group responded to a class perception survey consisting of items on satisfaction, interest, and participation regarding the practice-oriented ecological transition education. The results of this study are as follows: First, the practice-oriented ecological transition education had a statistically significant effect on improving elementary students’ environmental sensitivity. Second, it also showed a significant positive effect on enhancing their environmentally friendly attitudes. Third, analysis of students’ perceptions revealed highly positive responses. Among the experimental group, 84% reported being satisfied with the program, 84% expressed interest, and 70% indicated active participation, demonstrating a high level of engagement. In conclusion, the findings suggest that practice-oriented ecological transition education is effective in fostering elementary students’ environmental sensitivity and environmentally friendly attitudes, and is perceived positively by participating students.

본 연구의 목적은 실천 중심 생태전환교육이 초등 학생의 환경 감수성 및 환경친화적 태도에 어떤 영향 을 미치는지를 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구를 수행하기 위하여 U광역시 O초등학교 4학년 48명을 연구집단 24 명, 비교 집단 24명으로 무선 배치하여 연구를 수행하 였다. 연구집단에 대해서는 실천 중심 생태전환교육을 12차시 실시하였고, 비교 집단에 대해서는 교육과정에 근거한 이론 중심 환경 수업 12차시를 적용하였다. 통계 분석을 위해 두 집단을 대상으로 환경 감수성 및 환경친화적 태도에 대한 사전검사를 실시하였고, 12차 시의 실천 중심 생태전환교육 수업을 끝낸 후 환경 감 수성과 환경친화적 태도에 대한 사후검사를 수행하였 다. 또한 연구집단을 대상으로 실천 중심 생태전환교 육에 대한 만족도, 흥미도, 참여도로 구성된 수업 인식 검사를 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 실천 중심 생태전환교육은 초등학생들의 환 경 감수성을 향상시키는 데 유의미한 효과가 있는 것 으로 나타났다. 둘째, 실천 중심 생태전환교육은 초등 학생들의 환경친화적 태도를 향상시키는 데 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 실천 중심 생태전 환교육에 대한 초등학생의 인식을 분석한 결과 매우 긍정적이었다. 연구집단 학생 중 84%가 실천 중심 생 태전환교육에 만족했으며, 84%가 수업에 흥미를 느꼈 다고 응답하였다. 또한, 70%의 학생들이 수업에 적극 적으로 참여했다고 답하며 높은 참여도를 보였다. 이 상의 결과를 통해 실천 중심 생태전환교육은 초등학생 의 환경 감수성과 환경친화적 태도를 향상시키는 데 유의미한 효과가 있으며, 참여 학생들로부터 긍정적인 인식을 얻고 있음이 입증되었다.
