This study explored the instructional experiences of ten specialist literacy educators in elementary schools located in Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do. Over a three-week period, semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings revealed two main dimensions of their experiences: spatial boundaries, which highlighted their strong commitment to the local community alongside an awareness of structural educational constraints, and experiential boundaries, which described their journey from non-expert residents to educators who cultivated core competencies, developed an educational philosophy, and achieved sustained personal growth. Overall, the results indicate that enhancing community-based literacy education requires not only strengthening the capacities of educators but also creating an integrated ecosystem that connects families, schools, and the local community in a meaningful way.

본 연구는 전라남도 곡성군의 초등학교에서 기초학력 향상을 위해 활동 중인 문해교육 전문강사들의 교 육경험을 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 문해교육 강사 양성과정에 참여하여 현장에서 활동 중인 10명의 강사 를 의도적 표집으로 선정하였고, 약 3주 동안 반구조화된 심층 면담을 실시하여 주제 분석 방법으로 분석 하였다. 연구 결과, 강사들의 경험은 공간적 경계와 경험적 경계라는 두 가지 차원으로 구분되었다. 공간적 경계에서 강사들은 곡성 지역에 대한 애정과 책임감을 느끼는 한편, 지역의 교육·환경적 한계를 분명히 인 식하고 있었다. 또한 아동의 문해력 부족 원인을 개인 능력의 문제 보다 가정 및 지역사회의 교육 환경으 로부터 비롯된 것으로 이해하고 있었다. 경험적 경계에서는 비전문가였던 지역 주민들이 강사로 전환되는 과정에서 핵심 역량을 체득하고, 교육철학을 형성하며 내적성장으로 이어졌다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 지역 사회 기반 문해교육의 실효성 확보를 위해 강사 개인의 역량 강화와 더불어 가정·학교·지역사회가 유기적 으로 연결되는 통합적 교육생태계 조성이 필요함을 보여준다.
