This study examines the characteristics of light and color expression in the Waldorf picture book by German author Daniela Drescher. In Waldorf education, light and color are regarded as essential elements in the sensory, emotional, and cognitive development of children. Rudolf Steiner’s color philosophy emphasizes spiritual and psychological symbolism as well as the reflection of natural light, while Goethe’s color theory presents principles such as emotional contrasts and the idea that color emerges at the boundary between light and darkness. Applying this theoretical framework, the study divided the book’s day and night scenes into sequences and identified their color components. The results show that the daytime scenes are composed mainly yellow of warm hues corresponding to Steiner’s color structure of consciousness activation, which symbolizes awakening and vitality. Blue tones are deliberately excluded to prevent inducing reverie or sleep. In contrast, the nighttime scenes feature navy and black silhouettes with white shooting stars and the elf’s wings, creating strong color contrasts and heightened psychological tension. This directly corresponds to Goethe’s associations of blue with introspection and immersion, black with the dissolution of self, and white with infinite potential, while the silhouette-based foreground –background contrast reinforces the themes of hope, healing, and connection. Despite the differences in the colors used for the fairy between the day and night scenes, color constancy was maintained. In results, the day– night color contrast can be mapped onto Goethe’s color wheel, illustrating a case in which the passage of time and shifts in emotional tone are visualized through color.

본 연구는 독일 작가 다니엘라 드레셔의 발도르프 그 림책 <별똥별과 작은 요정>에 나타난 빛과 색채의 표현 특성을 분석하였다. 발도르프 교육은 빛과 색채를 아동의 감각, 정서, 사고 발달의 핵심 요소로 간주하며, 슈타이 너의 색채 철학은 영적이고 심리적 상징과 자연광의 반 영을 강조한다. 또한, 괴테의 색채론은 노랑–파랑과 같은 감정 대비, 빛과 어둠의 경계에서 색이 발생한다는 원리 를 제시한다. 본 연구는 이러한 이론적 틀을 적용하여, 작품 속 낮과 밤 장면을 시퀀스 단위로 분리하고 색채 구성요소를 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 낮 장면은 노랑 계열 의 따뜻한 색채를 중심으로 구성되어 의식의 깨어남과 생기 부여라는 슈타이너의 의식 활성화 색채 구조에 부 합하였으며, 파랑 계열은 의도적으로 배제되어 몽상과 수 면 유도를 차단하였다. 반면, 밤 장면은 남색과 검정 실 루엣에 흰색 별똥별과 요정의 날개를 배치하여 강한 색 채 대비와 심리적 긴장감을 형성하였다. 이는 괴테가 제 시한 파랑의 내성, 침잠, 검정의 자아 소멸, 흰색의 무한 가능성 개념과 직결되며, 실루엣 구도를 활용한 전경과 배경 대비가 주제인 소망, 치유, 연결을 강화하였다. 낮 과 밤의 변화에 따라 요정에 사용한 색채가 다름에도 색 항상성이 유지되는 점을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 낮–밤의 색채 대비는 괴테의 색상환에 대입 가능하여 시간의 흐 름과 감정 변화를 색으로 시각화한 사례로 확인되었다.
