This study applied Colaizzi’s phenomenological method in order to explore the meaning and essence of nursing students’ experiences while volunteering in a career camp for high school students from multicultural families. The participants were seven nursing students from W University who served as camp assistants, and data were collected through structured reflection journals and unstructured interviews from August 21 to August 31, 2025. The participants consisted of three freshmen, one sophomore, and three juniors, with an average major satisfaction score of 7.71±1.25 and a mean volunteer satisfaction score of 9.57±0.79. The total cumulative volunteer time was 79.14±66.96 hours. Data analysis yielded three thematic clusters—“A Feeling That Is Unfamiliar Yet Familiar,” “A Trigger for My Motivation,” and “To Understand You and Support You”—comprising six themes in total. The findings indicated that participating in the program provided nursing students with an opportunity to revisit their past career concerns, engage in communication and collaboration, and foster personal growth. This study is the first to apply a phenomenological approach to nursing students’ volunteer experiences in a multicultural family career camp context. The results provide foundational data for developing systematic and effective volunteer-based programs for nursing students.

본 연구는 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구 방법을 적용하여 간호대학생이 다문화 가정 고등학생 진로 캠프 봉사활동에 참여하며 경험한 의미와 본질을 탐구하고자 수행되었다. 연구 참여자는 W대학교에서 진행한 다문화 가정 고등학생 진 로 캠프에 봉사활동 도우미로 참여한 간호대학생 7명이었으며, 자료는 구조화된 성찰일지와 비구조화된 면담을 통해 2025년 8월 21일부터 8월 31일까지 수집되었다. 참여자는 1학년 3명, 2학년 1명, 3학년 3명이었으며, 전공만족도는 평균 7.71±1.25, 봉사활동 만족도는 평균 9.57±0.79였다. 지금까지의 총 봉사 시간은 평균 79.14±66.96시간이었다. 분석 결과, ‘낯 설지만 낯설지 않은 마음’, ‘나를 자극하는 계기’, ‘너를 이해하고 함께 해’라는 3개의 주제 모음과 6개의 주제가 도출되었 다. 간호대학생들은 이번 경험을 통해 과거 자신의 진로 고민을 되돌아보고, 소통과 화합을 통해 스스로 성장할 수 있는 기회로 인식하였다. 본 연구는 간호대학생의 다문화 가정 고등학생 진로 캠프 봉사활동 경험에 대한 최초의 현상학적 접 근의 연구로, 간호대학생을 대상으로 한 다문화 관련 봉사활동 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다.
