Art therapy has gone beyond academic development over the past 20 years and is now entering a phase where its practical efficacy is being verified. Therefore, in the current situation where more rigorous scientific evidence is required, a neuroscientific approach to artistic experiences is attracting attention as a way to address criticisms that art therapy lacks scientific evidence that has been pointed out in the past. The Korean Art Psychotherapy Association(KAPA) held a discussion forum on the paradigm shift in art therapy, focusing on neuroaesthetics and art therapy, at its 2025 Spring Academic Conference. This study introduces the paradigm shift from art psychotherapy to neuroarts, which is based on neuroscience, in three directions, based on recent international trends. First, “Change” explains the function of art in relation to health. ‘Choices’ introduces psychopathological and neuropsychoanalytical changes for neuroarts. Finally, in ‘Challenge’, practical measures related to the education, research, and business aspects of neuroarts are presented. Neuroarts is still a nascent field in Korea with limited empirical evidence, but it is expected to continue to grow together in the future alongside advances in neuroscience. On the other hand, it is also necessary to adjust the pace appropriately for a paradigm shift and recognize the adverse effects of applying overseas trends domestically.

예술치료는 지난 20여년간의 학술적 발전을 넘어 실용적 가치를 검증받는 단계에 직면해있 다. 따라서 보다 엄정한 과학적 근거가 요구되는 현 상황에서 예술 경험에 대한 신경과학적 접 근은 그간 지적된 예술치료의 비과학적 효능을 극복하는 방안으로 주목된다. 한국예술심리치료 학회는 2025년 춘계학술대회에서 신경미학과 예술심리치료를 주제로 예술치료의 패러다임 전 환에 관한 토론의 장을 열었다. 본 연구는 신경과학 기반의 예술치료인 신경예술로의 패러다임 전환을 최근 국제적인 추세를 참고하여 세 가지 방향으로 소개한다. 먼저 ‘변화’에서는 건강에 대한 예술의 기능을 설명한다. ‘선택’에서는 정신병리학과 신경정신분석적 변화를 소개한다. 마 지막으로 ‘과제’에서는 신경예술의 교육, 연구 및 사업과 관련된 실천 방안을 제시한다. 신경예 술은 국내에서는 아직 신생분야로 경험적 근거가 적은 한계를 갖고 있다. 하지만, 신경과학의 발전과 함께 향후 지속적인 동반성장이 예상된다. 반면 신경예술로의 패러다임 전환을 위한 적 절한 속도 조절과 해외 추세의 국내 적용에 따른 부작용의 인식 또한 요구된다.
