Recently, research on artificial intelligence education has been actively conducted. However, the reality is that the current curriculum is insufficient for elementary school students to learn the concepts and principles of artificial intelligence. This paper aimed to help upper-grade elementary school students acquire basic knowledge to understand the principles and concepts of artificial intelligence using unplugged educational activities. Through prior research and curriculum analysis, we developed 6 sessions of unplugged education to understand the basic knowledge of artificial intelligence and applied it to classes for 5th and 6th grade elementary school students. Pre- and post-tests were conducted and the results were analyzed. Looking at the results of the analysis, there was a significant improvement in the students' basic knowledge of artificial intelligence, and their understanding of the principles of artificial intelligence was improved by accurately identifying the areas to which artificial intelligence is applied. If the unplugged education program is used in the field of artificial intelligence education, it is expected that it will be helpful in artificial intelligence education for elementary school students in the future.

최근에 인공지능 교육에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 하지만 현재 교육과정에서는 초등학생들이 인 공지능의 개념과 원리를 학습하기엔 부족한 것이 현실이다. 본 논문은 초등학교 고학년들이 언플러그드 교육 활 동을 활용하여 인공지능의 원리와 개념을 이해할 수 있는 기초적인 지식을 익히고자 하였다. 선행연구와 교육과 정 분석 등을 통해 인공지능의 기초지식을 이해할 수 있는 언플러그드 교육 6차시 분량을 개발하여 초등학생 5, 6학년 40명을 대상으로 수업에 적용하였으며 사전, 사후 검사를 실시하고 결과를 분석하였다 분석한 결과를 살 펴보면 학생들의 인공지능 기초지식 능력 변화에서 큰 향상을 보였으며, 인공지능이 적용되는 분야를 정확하게 파악하고 인공지능 원리에 대한 이해도가 보다 향상되었다. 인공지능 교육 분야에서 언플러그드 교육 프로그램 을 활용한다면 향후 초등학생을 위한 인공지능 교육에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.
