Recent educational policies focus on cultivating creative and interdisciplinary talents by emphasizing learner competencies, in order to prepare for the future society and enhance national competitiveness. This study aims to establish an educational framework that effectively enhances learner competencies by implementing and validating an information design process grounded in PBL within a learner-centered rather than instructor-centered educational context, with the goal of fostering creative problem-solving skills. This study analyzed the instructional framework of an information design course based on PBL-taught by the researcher in a third-year major curriculum-by examining each phase of the course and assessing its effects on strengthening students' major-related and core competencies. The design thinking-centered information design course, based on PBL, was structured around the seven steps of PBL and included weekly activities, team projects, and instructor feedback to foster the balanced development of creative thinking and integrative competencies. The study demonstrated that this instructional approach was effective in organically enhancing learners’ domain-specific competencies and the 4C core skills. It is essential for instructors to propose customized instructional models aligned with the nature and educational objectives of the course, guiding learners to become the central agents of the class and actively construct their own knowledge and experiences. This study is expected to serve as foundational data for positioning PBL instruction as an effective strategy for enhancing competencies in the field of design education.

최근의 교육 정책은 미래 사회에 대비하고 국가 경 쟁력을 제고하기 위해 학습자의 역량을 중심으로 창의 적이고 융합적인 인재를 양성하는 데 중점을 두고 있 다. 이에 본 연구는 교수자 중심이 아닌 학습자 중심의 교육을 통해 창의적 문제해결 능력을 함양할 수 있는 PBL 기반의 정보디자인 교육 프로세스를 실험 및 검증 함으로써 학습자의 역량을 효과적으로 강화할 수 있는 교육체계를 구축하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 이에 연구 자가 지도한 3학년 전공 교육과정에서 진행한 PBL 기 반의 정보디자인 교육 실례를 단계별로 살펴봄으로써, 이러한 교수학습방법이 학습자들의 전공역량 및 핵심역 량 강화에 영향을 미친 교육체계를 심층적으로 분석하 였다. 연구결과, PBL 기반 디자인적 사고 중심의 정보 디자인 수업은 PBL 7단계에 기반하여 주차별 활동과 팀 프로젝트, 교수자 피드백을 통해 창의적 사고력과 융합적 역량을 고르게 함양하도록 설계되어 학습자의 전공역량과 4C 핵심역량을 유기적으로 강화하는 데 효 과적임을 입증하였다. 이를 위해서는 교수자가 교과목 설계 시, 교과목 성격과 교육목표에 맞는 맞춤형 수업 모형을 제시하여 학습자가 수업의 핵심 주체가 되어 지 식과 경험을 능동적으로 구성해 나갈 수 있도록 유도함 이 중요하다. 본 연구가 디자인 교육 분야에서 역량 강 화를 위한 효과적인 교수 전략으로서 PBL 수업을 정립 하는 데 기초자료로 활용되기를 기대한다.
