The purpose of this study is to explore the intercultural practice experiences of highly educated Mongolian immigrant women residing in Korea based on phenomenological research. In-depth interviews were conducted with three Mongolian immigrant women who had experience studying abroad in Korea and engaging in intercultural practices in the local community. In-depth interviews were conducted from early October to late November 2024, and the nature and meaning of the intercultural practice experience were analyzed according to the data analysis procedure proposed by Colaizzi. The research results were derived from three high-level themes: ‘Studying abroad and intercultural encounters,’ ‘Active attempts to practice intercultural practices,’ and ‘Limitations and expectations through intercultural practice experiences.’ The intercultural practice experience of highly educated immigrant women from Mongolia formed the foundation for growth through studying abroad and intercultural encounters at the individual level, and was realized as mutual solidarity through sharing and cooperation with international students and the local community at the social level. It was expanding beyond realistic limitations and seeking to protect human rights and interact on a transnational level. Through this study, we expect to conduct follow-up research on the new roles of highly educated immigrant women in order to live well together and on intercultural practices in various fields.

본 연구의 목적은 한국에 거주하고 있는 몽골 출신 고학력 이주여성의 상호문화 실천 경험을 현상학적 연구에 기초하여 탐색하는 것이다. 심층 면담에는 한국 유 학과 지역사회에서의 상호문화 실천 경험이 있는 몽골 출신 이주여성 3명이 참여 했다. 심층 면담을 2024년 10월 초부터 11월 말까지 시행한 후 Colaizzi가 제안한 자료 분석 절차에 따라 상호문화 실천 경험의 본질과 의미를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 ‘유학과 상호문화적 만남’, ‘상호문화 실천을 위한 적극적인 시도들’, ‘상호 문화 실천 경험을 통한 한계와 기대’의 상위범주화된 3개의 주제로 도출되었다. 몽골 출신 고학력 이주여성의 상호문화 실천 경험은 개인 차원에서는 유학과 상호 문화적 만남을 통해 성장의 기반을 이루었고, 사회적 차원에서는 유학생과 지역사 회에서의 나눔과 협력을 통해 상호연대로 구체화 되었다. 현실적인 한계를 넘어 초국적 차원의 인권 보호와 상호교류를 모색하며 확대되고 있었다. 본 연구를 통 해 더불어 잘 살아가기 위한 고학력 이주여성의 새로운 역할과 다양한 영역에서의 상호문화 실천에 관한 후속 연구를 기대한다.
