This study investigated whether the impact of achievement pressure on empathy, mediated through autonomy, could be influenced by varying levels of peer attachment levels. This hypothesized model was tested using responses from 1,328 first-year middle school students (48.9% female) collected in the 14th wave of the Panel Study on Korean Children (PSKC). Analysis was conducted using SPSS 21.0 and PROCESS Macro 3.4. The results indicated that achievement pressure negatively affected empathy by lowing autonomy, which in turn reduced their level of empathy. Furthermore, the effect of achievement pressure on empathy, mediated by autonomy, varied depending on peer attachment, confirming the presence of moderated mediation effect. These findings were further discussed in terms of their implications, policy recommendations, and practical significance.

본 연구의 목적은 성취압력이 자율성을 매개로 공감에 미치는 영향이 또래애착의 수준에 따라 달라질 수 있는지 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널조사의 14차년도 조사에 응답한 중학교 1학년 1,328 명(여학생 48.9%, 649명)의 응답을 대상으로 연구모형을 검증하였다. 연구모형 검증을 위해 SPSS 21.0프 로그램과 PROCESS Macro 3.4를 사용하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 아동이 경험한 성취압력은 자율성을 매개로 공감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 아동이 경험하는 성취압력이 자율성을 낮추고, 낮아진 자율성이 결과적으로 공감의 수준을 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 또래애착 의 조절된 매개효과가 존재하는 것으로 확인되었는데, 이는 성취압력이 자율성을 매개로 공감에 미치는 영향이 또래애착의 수준에 따라 그 정도가 다른 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 이 같은 결과를 토대로 본 연구에 대한 의의, 정책적 제언, 그리고 시사점을 논의하였다.
