Since most of elder abuse occurred in home, it's difficult to find the victims of elder abuse. Therefore the purpose of this study is to offer the social work ways to prevent, find and cope with the problems related to the elder abuse and to contribute to the elderly welfare improvement.For this aims, the definition of elder abuse, the factors of causing elder abuse, the theories of explaining elder abuse and the reality of elder abuse were reviewed. From the review, the appropriate social work intervention ways and the intervention program of elder abuse are discussed.

본 연구는 증가하고 있는 노인학대의 대다수가 가정 내에서 주로 발생한다는 사실을 파악하고, 이에 대한 현실적 문제들을 해결해 나갈 수 있는 대응책과 예방책의 일환으로 사회사업적 접근방법을 시도함으로써 앞으로의 노인학대에 대한 예방, 발견, 대처에 있어 필요한 방안들을 제시하여 노인복지증진에 기여하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다.이를 위해 노인학대의 개념과 관련 이론과 학대 유발 요인, 노인학대 실태에 대해서 알아보았으며, 사정된 문제에 따라 적절한 개입방법을 모색하여 사회사업적 차원에서의 노인학대 개입 프로그램을 실천모델로 제시하였다.
