This study aims to explore how university eSports competitions can contribute to the ethics of community as a social capital. By focusing on Naresuan University in Thailand, this combines a review of literature on social capital with field research, including participatory observations and in-depth interviews for data collection and content analysis. The findings reveal that the university's eSports competitions extended beyond mere campus events. By involving middle and high school students in eSports activities and encouraging collaborations among parents, students, teachers, professors, and local organizations, the events fostered trust, reciprocity, and networking—concepts aligned with social capital. Furthermore, the annual events of a "loose solidarity" within the Phitsanulok community highlights the role of eSports in the future.

이 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 e스포츠대회가 어떻게 지역사회의 공동 체윤리와 사회적 자본에 기여할 수 있는가에 대한 가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 태국 나래수안 대학의 e스포츠대회를 참여관찰하 고, 심층 인터뷰를 통한 자료수집과 내용분석을 진행하였다. 즉, ‘나래 수안 대학 공과대학 30주년 기념 발로란트 대회’와 ‘RoV Science Week NU Championship 2024’와 같은 대학 e스포츠 축제는 학교 주최 행사로써 지역 중·고등학교 학생들의 e스포츠대회로 확대, 운영하면서 부모, 학생, 교사, 교수, 지역단체들의 협력과 공동체의식을 함양하고 신 뢰, 호혜성 및 네트워크와 같은 사회적 자본을 실현하는 중요한 사례가 된다. 이것은 e스포츠를 중심으로 보다 더 넓은 범위의 다양한 학생들에 게 대학 축제에 참여할 수 있는 느슨한 연대의 기회를 제공할 수 있으 며, 특히 대학 중심의 지역공동체의 사회적 자본으로서의 e스포츠활동의 가능성을 보여주는 것이다.
