The purpose of this study was to develop managerial alternatives for reconcilling the duel structure beween formal and informal organizations. A survey research was conducted from a sample(261)of secondary school teachers about their participation and perceptions on informal organization within school context. Results of this survey research showed that; first, the number of informal organizations are on average 1.7 per teacher. Second, friendly and fraternity clans were the most frequent type of informal organization that teachers participate. Third, survey respondents rated 'well-rounded interpersonal relationships' as the most agreed positive consequences of informal organization's activities. Fourth, survey respondents rated 'segregation among teachers' and 'cladestine groupings' as the most negative consequences of informal organizaiton within school context. Recommendations for administrators were proposed as follows; first, school administrators should be aware of the importance and universal existence of informal organization among teachers. Second, school administrators should develop strategies to integrate formal organizational structure with informal groups.

이 연구의 목적은 교사의 비공식조직 참여실태를 조사하여 공식조직과 비공식조직간의 이중적 구조의 문제를 극복하기 위한 대안을 찾는 것에 있었다. 이를 위하여 교사의 비공식참여실태, 비공식조직의 순기능과 역기능에 대한 교사의 의견, 그리고 비공식조직과 학교경영간의 관계성에 대한 의견을 조사하였다. 조사결과 나타난 주요내용은 첫째, 비공식조직의 참여율은 평균 1.7개로 나타났으며 주로 참가하고 있는 비공식조직의 유형은 친목도모였으며 가장 적극적으로 참여하고 있는 비공식조직 또한 친목도모 유형이었다. 둘째, 교사의 비공식조직의 순기능에 대한 의견은 ‘원만한 인간관계’가 가장 많이 나타났으며 비공식조직의 도움을 가장 많이 받는 업무영역은 ‘생활지도’로 나타났다. 비공식조직의 역기능으로는 ‘학교내 파벌형성으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학교경영에 대한 영향성이 높은 비공식조직은 친목모임과 학습관련모임으로 나타났으며 비공식조직에 대한 관리 방안으로서는 일과시간내 정례모임을 지원하는 것이 가장 많이 제시되었다. 이 연구의 결과가 주는 시사점은 비공식조직의 보편성과 중요성에 대한 학교경영자의 인식이 필요하며 비공식조직과 공식조직구조 간의 연계전략수립의 필요성으로 나타났다.
