Previous studies on Sino-Korean and Sino-Chinese metonymy translation have primarily examined the characteristics of metonymic expressions, with little attention given to the translator’s role in the process. As an intermediary between the original author and the final reader, the translator’s perception and interpretation of metonymy significantly influence translation outcomes. This study applies Langacker’s theory of construal-specifically the dimensions of prominence and profiling- to analyze the cognitive interpretive acts and profiling strategies employed by translators when rendering conceptual metonymies.

지금까지 한중 및 중한 환유 번역에 관한 선행연구들은 주로 환유 표현의 특징 분야에만 집중했을 뿐, 번역 과정에서 번역자의 행위에 대해서는 구체적으로 다루지 않았다. 번역자는 원저자와 최종 독자 간의 중개인 역할을 맡는다. 따라서 번역자 개인의 인지 방식 및 해석 방식도 번역 결과에 중요한 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본고는 Langacker가 제시한 해석 이론 중 현저성(prominence) 차원- 윤곽 부여(profiling)의 이론을 활용하여 번역자들이 개념적 환유 를 번역할 때 채택한 인지 해석 행위 및 선택된 윤곽 부여에 관해 고찰할 것이다.
