This study examines how social norms and morality, fundamental to Korean society, are represented in the movie “Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds” and the webtoon “Along with the Gods: The Afterlife”. It explores the depiction of moral values in shamanistic and Buddhist texts and analyzes how these traditional narratives are reinterpreted through contemporary media. The findings reveal that while both the movie and the webtoon reconstruct the worldviews of traditional Buddhist and shamanistic texts into modern narratives, they emphasize different moral perspectives. The webtoon highlights fairness and universal ethics, whereas the movie prioritizes family love and filial piety, reinforcing modern familialism and advocating collective atonement through forgiveness and reconciliation. These distinctions reflect Korean society’s moral values and collective norms, demonstrating how intertextuality contributes to the widespread appeal of both works.

본 연구에서는 영화 <신과함께: 죄와벌>과 웹툰 <신과함께: 저승편>에 한국사회 공동체의 기저에 깔린 사회적 규범과 도덕성이 어떻게 구현되었는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 무속과 불교 텍스트에서 사회적 규범과 도덕적 가치가 어떻게 제시되었는지 고찰하고, 이러한 원천 텍스트에서의 서사와 도덕성이 영화와 웹툰의 대중매체를 통해 어떻게 계승되고 재해석되었는지 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 영화와 웹툰은 전통적인 불교와 무속 텍스트에서의 세계관을 현대적 서사로 재구성하면서 생과 사에 대한 성찰과 인과응보를 중심으로 서로 다른 도덕적 초점을 형성하고 있었다. 웹툰은 공평성과 배려를 강조하며 보편적 윤리를 부각시키는 반면, 영화는 가족애와 효를 도덕성의 핵심 기준으로 삼아 현대적 가족주의를 부각시키고, 용서와 화해를 통한 집단적 해원을 시도하였다. 이러한 차이는 상호텍스트성을 통해 텍스트 간 한국 사회의 도덕적 가치와 집단적 규범이 반영되고 있으며, 이러한 서사적 전략이 영화와 웹툰의 대중적 성공에 기여했음을 시사한다.
