This study aims to understand Korean culture through unification discourse in Korea and to establish a humanistic foundation for unification education through analysis of Kim Soo-young's unification poetry. To achieve unification in Korea, it is essential to build a national consensus on its necessity and justification. For this purpose, it is crucial to accurately understand the thoughts about unification and North Korea among college students of the MZ generation, who are supposed to play a leading role in preparing for unification. In this context it is necessary to survey the MZ generation’s perception of unification as comprehensively as possible, to closely analyze the results of survey, and to actively reflect them in establishing unification policy. When preparing for and carrying out the national task of unification, it is also necessary to provide unification-related education opportunities to MZ generation college students, the key participants in this project. When conducting curriculum-based or extracurricular unification education targeting college students, it is important to develop teaching methods and educational tools that align with the objectives, goals, and intended destinations of unification education. Kim Soo-young is an indispensable poet in Korean modernism and in the discourse on ‘peace’ and unification. Having experienced the Korean War, life in a prisoner of war camp, and pain of division, Kim Soo-young deeply embedded his desire for unification in his poetry, reflecting the profound scars of war and division. This paper analyzes Kim Soo-young’s unification-themed poetry and explores how literature can be utilized as tools for unification education and learning. Kim Soo-young’s unification poetry serves as a stepping stone and a guiding beacon, helping us navigate as we strive toward the lofty goal of unification.

본 연구는 한국의 통일 담론을 통해 한국문화를 이해하고 김수영의 통일 시 분석을 통해 인문학적 통일교육의 기반 조성을 목표로 한다. 통일을 달성하기 위해서는 통일 의 필요성과 당위성에 관한 국민적 공감대가 형성되어야 한다. 그리고 이를 위해 통일 준비와 통일 실현의 주역이 될 MZ 세대 대학생의 통일과 북한에 관한 생각을 정확하게 파악할 필요가 있다. MZ 세대의 통일에 대한 인식을 가능한 한 포괄적으로 조사하고 그 결과를 면밀하게 분석하여 통일정책 수립에 적극적으로 반영해야 할 것이다. 이런 맥락에서 본 연구에서는 본교 재학생을 대상으로 전공과 학년, 성별 구분 없이 통일과 북한 인식 관련 설문 조사를 하고 서울대학교 통일평화연구원에서 실시한 ‘2024 통일 의식조사’ 결과와 비교 분석했다. 통일이라는 국가적·국민적 과업을 준비하고 수행할 때 그 주체가 되는 MZ 세대 대학생에게 통일교육의 기회를 제공하고 통일교육의 이정 표를 구체적으로 제시해야 한다. 그리고 대학생을 대상으로 통일교육을 실시할 때 그 목적과 목표, 교육 효과에 부합하는 교육 방법과 학습 도구 또한 적극적으로 개발해야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 통일 관련 설문 결과를 바탕으로 대학생 대상 통일교육의 인 문학적 학습 도구 개발을 위한 기초 작업으로 김수영의 통일 관련 시를 분석했다. 김수 영은 한국 모더니즘과 평화 및 통일 담론에서 빠질 수 없는 시인이다. 한국 전쟁과 포 로 생활, 분단의 아픔을 경험하고 체험한 김수영은 분단과 전쟁의 상흔이 깊은 만큼 통 일에 대한 염원을 자신의 시 속에 고스란히 반영했다. 결과적으로 본 논문에서는 김수 영의 통일 시 분석을 통해 시를 포함한 문학 작품을 통일교육의 인문학적 학습 도구로 삼을 수 있는 구체적인 기반을 마련했다.
