This study attempted to develop a multicultural storytelling education program for youth as an alternative to multicultural education suitable for a multicultural society and the era of globalization. Currently, multicultural education in Korea is being conducted for youth from migrant backgrounds and general youth, but there are limitations that remain in the dimension of assimilationist approaches and simple learning. To overcome this, this study focused on providing educational opportunities for youth to re-recognize multicultural identity and strengthen global citizenship and cross-cultural sensitivity through storytelling-based multicultural education programs. As a research method, literature research and case analysis on multicultural education and storytelling-based writing programs for youth were used, and through this, a multicultural storytelling education program consisting of 10 sessions was designed. This program aims to expand personal experiences to social and community levels and to promote multicultural values and intercultural capabilities. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the multicultural storytelling education program allows youth to creatively express their multicultural experiences and cultivate multicultural identity, sensitivity, and global citizenship through this. In addition, this program was suggested as an educational alternative that can contribute to strengthening the multicultural capabilities of teachers and educational institutions as well as youth. This study suggested effective implementation plans for multicultural education for youth, emphasized the need to link with education policies and develop sustainable programs to improve and expand the quality of multicultural education. In the future, research to strengthen the foundation of integrated multicultural education through regularization and policy support for multicultural storytelling education programs should be conducted continuously.

본 연구는 다문화 사회와 세계화 시대에 적합한 청소년 대상 다문화교육의 대안으로서 다문화 스토리텔링 교육프로그램을 개발하고자 하였다. 현재 한국의 다문화교육은 이주배경청소년과 일반청소년을 대상으로 이원화된 교육이 이루어지고 있으나, 동화 주의적 접근과 단순 학습 차원에 머무르는 한계가 존재한다. 이를 극복하기 위해 본 연 구는 스토리텔링 기반의 다문화교육 프로그램을 통해 청소년들이 다문화적 정체성을 재인식하고, 세계시민성 및 문화 간 감수성을 강화할 수 있는 교육적 기회를 제공하는 데 초점을 맞추었다. 연구 방법으로는 청소년 대상 다문화교육 및 스토리텔링 기반 글 쓰기 프로그램에 대한 문헌 연구와 사례 분석을 활용하였으며, 이를 통해 10차시로 구 성된 다문화 스토리텔링 교육프로그램을 설계하였다. 본 프로그램은 개인적 경험을 사 회적, 공동체적 차원으로 확장하며, 다문화적 가치와 상호문화 역량을 증진시키는 것 을 목표로 한다. 연구 결과 다문화 스토리텔링 교육프로그램은 청소년들이 자신의 다 문화적 경험을 창의적으로 표현하고, 이를 통해 다문화적 정체성, 감수성, 세계시민성 을 함양할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 본 프로그램은 청소년뿐만 아니라 교사 및 교육 기관의 다문화 역량 강화에도 기여할 수 있는 교육적 대안으로 제시되었다. 본 연구는 청소년 대상 다문화교육의 효과적인 실천 방안을 제시하며, 다문화교육의 질적 향상과 확대를 위한 교육정책과의 연계 및 지속 가능한 프로그램 개발의 필요성을 강조하였 다. 앞으로 다문화 스토리텔링 교육프로그램의 정규화 및 정책적 지원을 통해 통합적 다문화교육의 기반을 강화하는 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
