This study aimed to assess the hair loss prevention effects of the dongeuihot spring water complex(Dongui Hot Spring Water CPX), which contains sea slug extract. The complex was created by dissolving sea slug extract and panthenol into dongeuihot spring water. The control group was prepared by dissolving the ingredients in distilled water instead of dongeui hot spring water. The results showed that as the concentration of Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX increased, its DPPH radical scavenging activity significantly increased, demonstrating higher antioxidant activity compared to the control group made with distilled water. Similarly, the Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX also showed a significant increase in ABTS radical scavenging activity as its concentration rose. Furthermore, when the toxicity of Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX was tested on HFDPC cells, it was found to promote greater cell proliferation(cell viability) at all concentrations compared to the control group. Overall, Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX exhibited higher cell proliferation than the control group. These results suggest that Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX may help prevent hair loss by neutralizing free radicals around hair follicles. Additionally, Dongeui Hot Spring Water CPX was found to be non-toxic and did not inhibit the growth of hair papilla cells. The findings confirm that Dongui Hot Spring Water CPX contributes to the proliferation of hair papilla cells, helping prevent hair loss. Therefore, Dongui Hot Spring Water CPX can be considered a beneficial ingredient for improving scalp health and preventing hair loss.
