The dental hygienist profession is an essential part of the healthcare field, focusing on the promotion of oral health, and adherence to ethical standards is crucial. Ethical awareness as a professional plays a significant role in enhancing both expertise and job satisfaction. It is essential for students to fully understand and practice these ethical standards, as this will contribute to their future professional success. This study analyzed the awareness of professional ethics and the perceptions of the specialist dental hygienist system among dental hygiene students. The results showed differences in awareness of the system based on entrance motivation (F = 7.644, p = 0.001) and academic achievement (F = 5.366, p = 0.001). There were also differences in the necessity of training programs depending on the entrance motivation (F = 3.119, p = 0.046). Regarding the transition to a medical professional, gender (t = -3.822, p = 0.001) showed statistically significant differences.Statistical significance was found in the perceived need for the introduction of the specialist dental hygienist system based on gender (t = 1.733, p = 0.042), academic achievement (F = 2.679, p = 0.032), volunteer spirit (F = 11.665, p = 0.001), sense of responsibility (F = 17.771, p = 0.001), and sense of compliance with the law (F = 14.857, p = 0.001).The analysis of the correlation and impact of students' professional ethics awareness and the introduction of the specialist dental hygienist system revealed that the higher the levels of volunteer spirit, sense of responsibility, and compliance with the law, the stronger the perceived need for the introduction of the specialist dental hygienist system (p = 0.05, p = 0.01, p = 0.001). This indicates that the ethical values of dental hygiene students play a crucial role in the need for the introduction of the specialist dental hygienist system.

치과위생사 직종은 보건의료 분야에서 구강 건강 증진을 위한 전문직으로서, 윤리적 기준을 준수하는 것 이 필수적이다. 직업인으로서의 윤리 의식은 전문성과 직무 만족도를 높이는 데 중요한 역할을 하며, 학생들이 이 러한 윤리적 기준을 잘 이해하고 실천하는 것이 앞으로의 직업적 성공에 기여할 것이다. 본 연구는 치위생(학)과 재학생들이 직업윤리의식정도와 전문치과위생사 제도에 대한 인식을 분석한 결과, 제도인식여부에 대해서는 입학 동기(F=7.644, p=0.001), 학업성취도(F=5.366, p=0.001)에 따라 차이가 있었다. 양성과정 필요성에 대해서는 입학 동기(F=3.119, p=0.046)에 따라 차이가 있었다. 의료인화 전환에 대해서는 성별(t=-3.822, p=0.001)의 경우 통계적 인 유의미가 있었다. 전문치과위생사 제도 도입필요성에 대해서도 성별(t=1.733, p=0.042), 학업성취도(F=2.679, p=0.032), 봉사정신(F=11.665, p=0.001), 책임정신(F=17.771, p=0.001), 준법정신(F=14.857, p=0.001)의 정도에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 학생들의 직업윤리의식의 정도와 전문치과위생사 제도 도입에 대한 상관성과 영향성을 분석한 결과 직업윤리의식인 봉사정신, 책임정신, 준법정신이 높을수록 전문치과위생사 제도 도입 필요 성이 커지는 것으로 나타났으며((p=.05, p=.01, p=0.001), 즉 전문치과위생사 제도 도입을 위해서 치위생(학)과 재 학생들의 윤리적 가치가 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 치위생과 학생들에게 직업윤리의식을 강 화시킴으로써 앞으로 전문치과위생사에 도입에 대한 필요성이 높아질 것이고 추후 전문치과위생사제도 발전을 위 한 기반 마련이 될 것이다.
