This study aims to analyze the problems encountered in comic translation and the corresponding translation strategies. Comic translation goes beyond simple text conversion, requiring adjustments to reflect cultural elements, and it is challenging to convey the various linguistic nuances and expressions accurately. To overcome this, translators must possess a deep understanding of both languages and employ creative approaches. This research utilizes Celotti’s six translation strategies to analyze those applied in educational comics and compares the translation methods for culture-specific vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and proper nouns. The results show that the translation strategies are organically combined to aid the reader’s understanding, despite the limitations imposed by speech bubbles. Furthermore, the use of annotations in educational comics proved to be an essential tool in enhancing reader comprehension. This study is expected to provide insights into the effectiveness of various translation strategies applicable to comic translation. It also contributes to the systematic development of translation approaches that account for cultural differences.

이 연구는 만화 번역에서 발생하는 문제점들과 그에 따른 번역 전략을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 만화 번역은 단순한 텍스트 변환을 넘어, 문화적 요소를 반영하기 위한 조정이 필요하며, 다양한 언어적 뉘앙스와 표현을 정확하게 전달하는 것이 어려 운 과제다. 이를 극복하기 위해서는 번역자가 양쪽 언어에 대한 깊은 이해를 바탕으로 창의적인 접근을 해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 체로띠(Celotti)의 6가지 번역 전략을 활용 하여 교육 만화에 적용된 번역 전략을 분석하고, 문화 특유의 어휘, 관용 표현, 고유명 사에 대한 번역 방법을 비교한다. 그 결과, 말풍선이라는 제한에도 불구하고 독자의 이 해를 돕기 위해 번역 전략들이 유기적으로 결합되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 더불어, 교육 만화에서 주석의 사용은 독자의 이해를 증진시키는 중요한 도구로 입증되었다. 본 연구는 다양한 번역 전략의 효과성을 제시함으로써 만화 번역에 적용할 수 있는 통 찰을 제공할 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 문화적 차이를 고려한 체계적인 번역 접근의 발전에 기여할 것이다.
