The current study was to examine the new ecological paradigm of MZ generation, leading the tourism trends; and measure the environmental awareness of the MZ generation, motivating their participation of beach- beachcombing through in-depth interviews. The first study was performed using convenience sampling from October 10 to October 16, 2023. In the second study, study participants were collected through snowball sampling and conducted through semi-structured interviews. The study’s results showed that awareness of eco-friendliness was relatively high then the findings of previous studies. And as the results of the interviews, beachcombing motivation factors were divided into interest in eco-friendly; willingness to practice eco-friendly; eco-friendly consumption habits; and social relationships as internal factors, and eco-friendly tourism quality; marketing strategy; tangible benefits; and intangible benefits as external factors.

본 연구는 탄소 제로 관광을 실천하는 비치코밍에 주목하고, 관광 소비의 주축인 MZ세대의 생태관을 측정하고, MZ세대의 비치코밍 참여유도를 위한 프로그램 개발 및 위한 외적 내적보상에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 MZ세대의 친환경 인식수준을 탐색적으로 평가하고자 1차 정량적 연구에서는 신생태패러다임 척도(NEP)와 생태적 실천과 참여의지 척도를 반영한 인식조사를 실시하고, 2차 정성적 연구에서는 심층인터뷰(in-depth interview)를 통해 MZ세대의 비치코밍에 대한 이해도, 친환경 활동을 위한 심리적 유인요인과 외부환경 요인 등에 대해 살펴보았다. 1차 온라인 설문조사는 2023년 10월 10일부터 10월 16일까지 일주일 동안 편의표본추출 방법으로 이루어졌고, 최종 수집한 210부의 설문지 중, 불성실하거나 무응답이 있는 설문지를 제외한 203부가 분석에 사용되었다. 2차 정성적 연구는 반구조화된 면접법 (semi-structured interview)을 통해 인터뷰를 진행하였다. 정량적 연구의 결과에 따르면 본 연구의 NEP 평균값 결과는 선행연구의 평균값보다 대체적으로 높게 나타났다. 그리고 정성적 연구 결과에서는 내적 요인으로는 응답자의 친환경 동기, 친환경 경험, 친환경 소비습관, 사회 문화 경제적 태도로 구분하였으며, 외적 요인으로는 친환경 관광 품질, 마케팅 전략, 유형적 혜택, 무형적 혜택으로 분류하였다. 본 연구는 비치코밍에 영향을 주는 다양한 변수 사이에서 프로그램 참여 경험 여부에 따라 인지하는 중요도에 차이가 있다는 결과를 제시하였다.
