This study began with a sense of problem with the lack of research on the transition process and trends from the introduction of Korean line dance, and the meaning of lectures focusing on the works of Western choreographers. As a research method, literature research and expert interviews were conducted. Through the introduction process of line dance in Korea, the activities of organizations organized by period, and the opinions of four experts who are active from the beginning to the present, the transition process and trend of Korean line dance were examined. Compared to the current quantitative development of domestic line dance, exchanges and cooperation between domestic organizations are insufficient, and in recent years, there is a trend to create cooperative relationships between organizations to overcome them. In addition, there was a common opinion that efforts to overcome the limitations of line dance experts in theory and practice are needed. In particular, since the association’s efforts are rarely made in creating line dance works, we see the limitations of domestic line dance that focuses on Western works. In conclusion, line dance values common experiences through dances of the same movement and has important social values for the maintenance and development of the community, such as bonding and consideration. Therefore, the following efforts will be needed. First, there are strengthening the integrated system of practice and theory, second, lowering the threshold at which each other can come and go regardless of the association, and third, the formation of uniform standards among associations for improving the quality of education, and fourth, not forgetting the original party dance (social dance) culture.

이 연구는 한국 라인댄스의 도입부터 변천 과정 및 동향들에 관한 연구의 부족함과 서양 안무가의 작품 위주로 강의가 이뤄지는 것이 가지는 의미에 관한 문제의식을 가지고 시작되었다. 연구방법으로는 문헌연구와 전문가 인터뷰를 하였으며, 라인댄스의 도입 과정과 시기별 조직된 단체들의 활동 그리고 초창기부터 현재까지 활동하고 있는 전문가 4인의 의견을 통해 한국 라인댄스의 변천과정 및 동향 등을 두루 살펴보았다. 현재 국내 라인댄스의 양적 발전이 이뤄진 것에 비해 국내 단체들의 교류와 협력이 미흡하며, 최근에는 이를 극복하기 위해 단체들 간의 협력적 관계를 만들기 위해 노력하는 추세가 이어지고 있다고 한다. 그리고 이론과 실기에 있어서 라인댄스 전문가들 이 가지는 한계를 스스로 뛰어넘기 위한 노력이 필요하다는 공통된 의견도 있었다. 특 히 라인댄스 작품 창작에 있어서 협회의 노력이 거의 이뤄지지 않고 있기에 서구 작품 위주로 돌아가는 국내 라인댄스의 한계를 보게 된다. 결론으로는 라인댄스는 같은 동작의 춤을 통해 공통의 체험을 중시하며 유대감과 배려심 등 공동체 유지 발전에 중요한 사회적 가치를 가지고 있다는 것이다. 따라서 다음과 같은 노력들이 필요할 것이다. 첫째로는 실기와 이론의 통합적인 체계를 강화 하는 것, 둘째로는 협회와 상관없이 서로 드나들 수 있는 문턱을 낮추는 것, 셋째로는 교육의 질적 향상을 위한 협회간의 일률적 기준의 형성, 넷째로는 라인댄스 본연의 파티댄스(소셜댄스) 문화를 잊지 않는 것 등이 있겠다.
