This study examines the case of the 11th GAF Performing Arts Festival in 2023 in order to establish a self-reliant profit structure for regionally-based arts organizations and revitalize local festivals, and determines the direction for convergence and coexistence of local festivals and arts organizations. In addition, through the Geumcheon Citizen Musical Troupe's invitational performance at the opening ceremony and the 'Movement Workshop' for Geumcheon citizens, a reinvented cultural model of local storytelling resources centered on local residents was presented, increasing the possibility of revitalizing local festivals. However, the participating arts organizations' lack of use of local cultural resources and the low number of voluntary audience attendance remain issues that need to be solved in the future. In addition, it should expand its role as a regional art platform that can establish the identity of regionally based Korean acting art and encourage and support the continuous and experimental challenges of art organizations. 본 연구는 예술단체들의 자립적 수익구조 마련과 지역축제 활성화에 대한 방안 모색을 위해 2023년 제11회 GAF 공연예술제의 사례를 살펴보고 지역축제와 예술단체의 융합과 상생을 위한 방향성을 제시 하고자 하였다. GAF 공연예술제는 서울시장상 유치를 통해 서울시 지역축제로서 공신력을 높이고 장막 극 8편, 단막극 12편 총 20편을 선정하여 경연방식으로 진행하였다. 약 400여명의 예술가들이 참여했으 며 단체 6개 팀과 개인 10명에게 수상하였다. GAF 공연예술제는 금천구 지역과 협업 진행하며 참여 예 술단체들의 작품 홍보 기회를 높이고 다양한 콘텐츠 소재 개발을 위한 기회 제공을 통해 지속적인 예술 활동의 토대를 마련하였다. 또한, 금천 시민뮤지컬단의 개막식 초청 공연과 금천 시민 대상‘움직임 워크 숍’을 통해 지역주민들 중심으로 지역 이야기 자원의 리인밴트(reinvent) 된 문화모델을 선보이며 지역 축제 활성화의 가능성을 높였다. 그러나 참여 예술단체들의 지역문화자원 소재의 활용이 부족하였고, 자 발적 관객관람의 수치가 낮은 것은 앞으로 풀어가야 할 과제이다. 그러므로 GAF 공연예술제는 지역사회 의 발전과 지속적인 지역 축제로 자리매김하기 위해서는 지역주민 대상의 워크숍 프로그램을 확대하고 지역주민의 자발적 관람을 증대시킬 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 지역홍보에 더 중심을 두고 진행해야 한다. 또한 지역기반 한국 연기예술의 정체성을 확립하고 예술단체들의 지속적이고 실험적인 도전을 격려할 수 있는 지역 예술 플랫폼 역할로 확대되어야 한다. 이에 GAF 조직위원회는 지역문화자원을 활용한 다 양한 콘텐츠 소재 개발을 위한 지속적인 연구와 지역이해를 위한 세미나 개최 등 다른 지역과 구별된 지 역의 특수성과 고유성을 기반한 지역성을 갖춘 축제로 성장할 수 있는 후속연구들이 이어져야 한다.
