[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of self expression on depressive mood in elderly women learning dance and to verify the mediating effect of interpersonal relationships. [Method] The collected data were subjected to frequency analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability analysis using SPSS 21.0, AMOS 20.0, and SPSS PROCESS Macro programs. [Result] First, the self expression of elderly woman who learn dance is effective in improving interpersonal relationships and lowering depressive mood. Second, interpersonal relationships directly help prevent depressive mood in elderly women. Third, depressive mood among elderly women was found to be a major factor that hinders self expression and interpersonal relationships skills. [Conclusion] In order for elderly women to lead happy and healthy retirement lives, it is important to skillfully express their desires, thoughts, and emotions and maintain smooth interpersonal relation.

[목적] 본 연구의 목적은 무용에 참여하는 여성노인의 자기표현이 우울한 기분에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 이들의 관 계에서 대인관계 욕구의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. [방법] 연구의 대상은 J도 지역의 평생교육원, 복지관, 문화센 터 등에서 무용 프로그램(한국무용, 라인댄스, 댄스스포츠, 벨리댄스)에 참여하고 있는 여성노인 180명이다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 20.0, SPSS PROCESS Macro 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, 상관관계분석, 확인적 요인분 석 및 신뢰도분석을 실시하였다. [결과] 첫째, 여성노인의 무용을 통한 자기표현은 대인관계 욕구를 높이고 우울한 기분을 완화하는데 효과적이다. 둘째, 대인관계 욕구는 여성노인의 우울한 기분을 예방하는데 도움이 되는 중요한 매개변인이다. 셋째, 여성노인의 우울한 기분은 자기표현과 대인관계 욕구를 방해하는 주요 요인이다. [결론] 요약하 면, 여성노인들이 행복하고 건강한 노후생활을 영위하기 위해서는 신체 움직임을 통해 자신의 욕구나 생각, 감정 등 을 능숙하게 표현할 줄 알고 타인과의 관계를 원만하게 유지하는 것이 중요하므로 노인무용을 활성화 시킬 수 있는 구체적인 방안이 필요하다.
