The purpose of this study is to explore the learning experience of Christian pastors through participation in the village community. The research question set up for this is, first, what is the learning process through the pastor’s participation in the village community? Second, what is the content of the pastor’s learning experience through participation in the village community? The research method used a basic qualitative research method. The results derived from the study are as follows. First, the process of the pastor’s learning experience begins with a sense of problem with the relationship between the village and the church, and as a way to solve this, he learned for change and had a face-to-face conversation. In addition, pastors’ participation in the village community played the role of a “mediator” in forming a new relationship. Second, the content of the learning experience changed the pastor’s thoughts and actions. Through village community activities, the study participants experienced internal changes in their understanding of their role as pastors, improved self-esteem, and showed external changes of the role of pastors and churches. This study is meaningful in that it presented the diversity of village community research that can be dealt with in lifelong education and suggested an approach for lifelong learning for pastors.

본 연구의 목적은 기독교 목회자의 마을공동체 참여를 통한 학습경 험을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 설정한 연구문제는 첫째, 목회자의 마을공동체 참여를 통한 학습 과정은 어떠한가? 둘째, 목회자의 마을 공동체 참여를 통한 학습경험의 내용은 무엇인가? 이다. 연구방법은 연구참여자 준거를 만족하는 7명의 목회자를 대상으로 기본적 질적연 구방법(basic qualitative research)를 사용하였다. 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 목회자의 마을공동체 참여를 통한 학습경험의 과정은 마을과 교회의 관계에 대한 문제의식에서 출발하 고 있으며, 이것을 해결하는 방법으로 변화를 위한 학습과 직접 대면 을 통한 대화의 시간을 가졌다. 또한 목회자들의 마을공동체 참여는 교회와 마을 사이에서 새로운 관계를 형성하는 ‘중재자’의 역할을 수행 하였다. 둘째, 학습경험의 내용은 목회자의 생각과 행동에 변화를 가 져왔다. 연구참여자들은 마을공동체 활동을 통해 목회자로서의 자기 역할에 대한 이해가 성숙하고, 자존감이 향상되는 내적 변화를 경험하 였으며, 목회자와 교회의 역할에 대한 실천 영역이 확장되는 외적 변 화를 나타냈다. 본 연구는 평생교육에서 다뤄질 수 있는 마을공동체 연구의 다양성을 제시했다는 점과 목회자의 평생학습을 위한 하나의 접근방법을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
