This is a case study that observes and analyzes the effects of enrichment learning for a promising elementary school student's mathematical competency. A promising 6th grade elementary school girl who had no experience in prior learning or gifted education was compared with the giftedness test results before and after 1 year of enrichment learning and interviewed. As a result, although there was no significant change in the originality part of the creativity test, there was a clear change of fluency and flexibility. And it was confirmed that the test results of the behavioral characteristics had a positive effect on the creativity tendency and attitude. The six mathematical competencies also changed overall and it was confirmed that the will to learn which is a sub-factor of attitude and practice changed the most. Changes in mathematical thinking and mathematical attitudes cultivated through enrichment learning can be the basis for developing the other 5 mathematical competencies. It is expected that it can be used as an example to support the importance of enrichment learning.

본 연구는 수학 심화학습이 한 유망한 초등학교 학생의 수학 교과역량에 미치는 영향을 관찰하고 분석한 사례연구이다. 선행학습과 영재교육 경험이 없는 유망한 초등학교 6학년 한 여학생을 대상으로 1년간의 심화학습 전후 영재성 검사결과를 비교하고 면담을 실시하였다. 그 결과 창의력 검사 항목 중 독창성 부분에서는 큰 변화를 보이지는 않았지만, 유창성과 융통성의 측면에서는 뚜렷한 변화를 보였고 행동특성 검사결과에서는 창의성 성향과 태도면에서 긍정적인 영향을 주었음을 확 인하였다. 6가지의 수학 교과역량도 긍정적으로 변화하였는데 특히 태도 및 실천의 하위요소인 학습 의지에서 가장 크게 변화되었음을 확인하였다. 심화학습을 통해 길러진 수학적 사고 및 태도의 변화는 다른 5가지의 교과역량을 개발하는 기초가 될 수 있으므로 학생 지도 시 개인의 수학적 지식의 양보다 교과역량에 초점을 둔 다면 수학적 사고, 창의적 문제해결과정과 탐구 방법 등을 교육의 목표로 삼는 심 화학습의 중요성을 뒷받침하는 사례로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
