Optical Character Recognition (OCR) today is a considered a relatively stable technology. The ability to quickly extract and use text from digital documents and images has advanced society and the speed of business. However, even the best OCR still cannot achieve human-level accuracy. This is particularly true of handwriting recognition and less widely spoken languages. In this regard, Korean OCR, particularly handwritten Hangul, is an active area of research. Therefore, this study performs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of handwritten Hangul OCR techniques and datasets. Research articles that were published between the year 2013 to 2023 on the topic of handwritten Hangul OCR were collected and analyzed using a predefined article review protocol. The purpose of this study is to summarize and evaluate state-of-the-art techniques and datasets regarding handwritten Hangul OCR to highlight research gaps and provide future research directions.

광학 문자 인식(OCR)은 오늘날 비교적 안정적인 기술로 간주된다. 디지털 문서와 이미지에서 텍스트를 빠르 게 추출하고 사용할 수 있는 능력은 사회와 비즈니스의 속도를 발전시켰다. 그러나 최고의 OCR조차도 인간 수준의 정확도를 달성할 수 없다. 이는 특히 필기 인식 및 널리 사용되지 않는 언어에 해당된다. 이것과 관련하여 한글 필기 체는 한국어 OCR의 활발한 연구 분야이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 한글 필기체 OCR 기법과 데이터셋에 대한 체계적 문헌 고찰(SLR: Systematic Literature Review)를 수행한다. 이 연구에서는 검토 프로토콜을 사용하여 2013년부터 2023 년 사이에 출판된 한글 필기체 OCR 주제와 관련된 논문을 수집하고 분석했다. 본 연구의 목적은 한글 필기체 OCR 에 대한 최신 기술과 데이터셋을 요약하고 평가하여 연구 간극을 살피고 향후 연구 방향을 제시하는데 있다.
