The purpose of this study was to deeply understand the life of mothers who experienced childhood abuse as the central focus of Schütze's biographical research methodology. The analysis results divided the life of mothers who had experienced childhood abuse into two categories: life as a child and life as a parent. First, life as a child was classified under the theme of "Living as a Wounded Child," with sub-topics including "an existence that cannot receive help from anyone," "repeated relationship failures," and "dedicating their lives to their parents." Second, life as a parent was classified under the theme of "Living as a Mom with Wounds," with sub-topics including "a mother who cannot help her child and has failed in her relationship with them" and "starting healing by acknowledging the pain." This study is significant in that it re-examines and deeply analyzes the life of mothers who are both victims and perpetrators of child abuse, and proposes counseling intervention directions and social support measures necessary for participants to heal their wounds and perform their roles as healthy mothers.

본 연구는 Schütze의 생애사적 연구방법론을 중심으로 아동기 학대 피해를 경험한 어머니의 삶을 심층 적으로 이해하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 아동기 피학대 경험을 가진 어머니의 삶을 자녀로서의 삶과 부모로서의 삶으로 구분하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자녀로서의 삶은 “상처받은 아이로 사는 삶”을 주제로 하위 내용은 ‘누구의 도움도 받을 수 없는 존재’, ‘반복되는 관계의 실패’, ‘부모에게 헌신 한 삶’으로 분류되었으며 둘째, 부모로서의 삶은 “상처를 안고 엄마로 살아가기”의 주제로 ‘아이를 도울 수 없는 엄마. 아이와의 관계에 실패하다.’, ‘고통을 인정하며 치유가 시작되다’로 하위 내용이 구성되었 다. 본 연구는 아동학대의 피해자이며 동시에 가해자이기도 한 어머니의 삶을 재조명하여 깊이 이해하 고 분석하였다는 점에서 의의가 있으며 연구결과를 통해 연구 참여자들이 자신의 상처를 치유하고 건강한 어머니로서 역할을 수행하는 데 필요한 상담적 개입방향과 사회적 지원방안을 제안하였다.
