This paper aims to overcome the literal reading of the conquest narrative, which justifies the logic of othering, and to find the original theological meaning of the text through redaction criticism, and to interpret it as a so-called 'missionary reading' by connecting it with the current multicultural situation in Korea. What can be confirmed through redaction criticism is that the conquest narrative does not only contain an exclusive and nationalist attitude that reduces other ethnic groups to objects of conquest and extermination, but rather also contains a coexistence and co-prosperity with the Canaanites. And in that aspect, the others who were hidden in the conquest narrative are strongly highlighted. This will provide practical missionary implications for social integration and coexistence with others in Korean society as an alternative community.

본 논문은 정복 내러티브의 문자적 읽기가 타자배제의 논리를 정당화 하고 있다는 문제 인식 아래, 정복 내러티브의 문자적 읽기를 극복하되, 편 집비평을 통해 본문이 가지고 있는 본래의 신학적 의미를 찾고, 그것을 다시 현재 한국의 다문화 상황과 연결하는 소위 ‘선교적 읽기’로 해석하고자 한다. 편집비평을 통해 확인할 수 있는 사실은 정복 내러티브가 타민족을 정복과 진멸의 대상으로 전락시키는 배타적이고 국수주의적인 태도만 포함하고 있는 것이 아니라, 오히려 가나안 사람들과의 공생과 공존의 모습 또한 담고 있다는 것이다. 그리고 그 모습에는 정복 내러티브 속에 은폐되 었던 타자들이 강하게 부각되고 있다. 이것은 한국 사회 속 타자들과의 사 회통합과 공생의 대안적 공동체를 위한 실천 가능한 선교적 함의를 제공해 줄 것이다.
