This article examines the methods and strategies of how historical figures can be storytelling for cultural content development in a memorial hall through the case of the Choi Yongshin Memorial Hall. Choi Yongshin Memorial Hall is a museum commemorating Choi Yong-shin, who engaged in rural enlightenment activities in Bono-dong, Ansan, and has developed various public cultural contents to understand and educate Choi Yong-shin's historical and local values and meanings. The cultural contents of the Choi Yongshin Memorial Hall restore the fictionalized characters to local historical figures due to Shim Hoon's story of Sangnoksu, while allowing us to think about what Choi Yong-shin's words and writings mean to us today and how they can be applied. It was reinterpreted not as a dimension of acquiring historical and realistic information about Choi Yong-shin, but as a meaning that we have today. The cultural contents of the Choi Yong-shin Memorial Hall were developed through storytelling reinterpreted as figures of our time in consideration of the subjective history education and awareness of how we understand and apply ourselves through historical figures.

이 글은 역사 인물을 기념하는 기념관에서 문화콘텐츠를 통해 역사 인 물을 어떻게 스토리텔링 할 수 있는가에 대한 방법과 전략을 최용신기념 관의 사례를 통해 고찰하고 있다. 최용신기념관은 안산 본오동에서 일제 강점기 농촌계몽활동을 한 최용신을 기리는 기념관으로, 다양한 공공문 화콘텐츠를 개발해 최용신의 역사적, 지역사적 가치와 의미를 이해시키 고 교육 시키면서 문화적인 향유를 위한 문화서비스를 제공해 왔다. 최용 신기념관의 문화콘텐츠는 심훈의 상록수 이야기로 인해 허구화된 인물 을 지역의 역사 인물로 복원하는 한편, ‘상록수’로 상징화된 농촌계몽운동 의 역사적 의미뿐 아니라 최용신의 말과 글이 오늘날 우리에게는 어떤 의 미가 있고, 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지 생각해 볼 수 있도록 한다. 최용신에 관한 역사 사실적 정보습득의 차원이 아니라 오늘날 우리에게 갖는 의미 로 재해석한 것이다. 최용신기념관의 문화콘텐츠는 최용신이 일제강점기 농촌계몽운동에 참여한 조선의 젊은이들을 대표하고 상징한다는 역사적 인 의미를 기억하고 기념할 수 있도록 하는 한편 나와 너, 우리의 공동체 안에서 갖는 의미를 부각시킴으로써 지역박물관의 공공콘텐츠로서의 의 미도 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
